Confused?

For months now every thread on the org has stated that the y pipe would sound horrible with a aftermarket cat-back. I ordered my y pipe from Cattman and mated to my Cattman cat-back and it sounds great. It sounds very deep and some of my co-workers say it sounds like a Z ( I drove a Z and it doesn't in my opinion). It took a week just like Brain said it would and the quality of the pipe is first rate. I cannot bash other y pipes because I've never seen them face to face. For the money ($312 shipped w/ gaskets) it was well worth it. It fits perfectly with no bending or hacking involved. If anybody want to hear it just roll your windows down as I'm passing you, doing 80mph or higher (not on city streets... sometimes).

Agreed, what's the confusion about? The y-pipe isn't so much the problem as it is the the crappy catbacks people get.

I agree to that. Y-pipe will produce a louder sound, but if you get a resonator less catback, of couse it will sounds terrible, its not the y-pipes fault.

I was confused on the fact that some members on the org would say that the y pipe makes the exhaust note sound bad ( think fart can civic sound). However that is not the case and the sound clips do not give an accurate description of the sound the car makes with it on. In fact I was not going to get the y pipe because of the way some members where describing the way the y pipe sounds with an aftermarket catback. What I am tryin to say is the set-up that I have now sounds great and if some puts it on there car they won't be disappointed.

The exhaust note is about what catback you choose. Many have put a y-pipe on and barely noticed a change in tone, until they got a catback.

Good, another positive responce for the cattman catback.

What is "good sounding" is almost impossible to define for a group of people.

Congrats on a good setup, enjoy!

mine went crazy loud once i installed the y-pipe. the catback was custom made at a muffler shop so i guess i could see y.
