I have a 98 and my car is starting to make strange loud humming noises when turning, especially at slower speeds. My first guess is that it has something to do with the power steering but honestly, i have no idea. This morning I REALLY noticed it and it made the sound even while the car sat with wheels facing forward and while not turning. Eventually it went away once I got a few miles down the road and things warmed up.

Any ideas? I've heard similar sounds in my friend's POS cavalier but never knew what it was. Hoping to be able to fix it without a mechanic.
