Windshield tinting

OK before anyone jumps to conclusions i have a skin disorder which allows me to get my windshield tinted. Im not doing it to be cool or whatever i want it to that i can still see out at night and not run people over. as of right now i have 5% on all the windows except the windshield. i also have a medical note from my doctor and a medical card from the DMV stating im allowed to have vehicle sun screening. What would be the best % tint for the windshield that will actually do something and help me not get over exposed to the sun.

well i will admit i kinda like the look of the tint better than a clear UV film. i would like to go the cheapest route possible, i found a guy to do it for 40 bux i just need to know which percent would be the best.

Tint

Im Most states it's illegal to Tint the wind shield with Tint Film.

However i haven't seen anything in regards to replaceing the wind shield with a factory tinted windshield..

It's Skirting the Law you might be able to get away with it.
However it's always better to check with your local muni.

I have a medical exemption for window tinting. Im already of the laws in NJ for window tint, which is only the rear windows, no fronts, and no windshield but im exempt as stated in the first post. good looks tho

hey, i can tell you this, my friend's cousin had 5% all around on his 96 maxima and he had 20% on windshield, put it like this, we couldnt take that car at night long distances and it was hard to get around NY for this kid sometimes cuz it was too dark to notice things like potholes, do 50%, with your 5% all around, the 50% should seem like it's a 20% and you'll be able to see clearly but still have the car look pitch black at night

If you have HID's, do 20% if you have regular lights, do 35%.

id say 35% should be the lowest that you should go. also i agree with the person that mentioned light output from your headlights (i.e. hids vs. 9004) should be a factor in determining how dark you go. i have friends with 5 all around and they have to roll their windows down at night to see their side mirrors, with another 35% tint on the only glass left in their car not tinted id think youd have an extremely tough time seeing at night. also another thing is at night i like the ability to recognize the cars around me, and with too dark a tint you wouldnt be able to notice if that was a cop behind you or just an average car.

You want pics of something that is illegal to all but those with your apparent skin disorder?

what if one of the headlights go out? then that darker tint w/HID isn't such a good idea.

umm people tint their side windows and its illegal in some states, people speed and its illegal right? my point is that everyone does illegal things to their cars and i know some people on here have their windshields tinted. Well as far as the HID's going out im not too worried about that happening because i have them in my fogs as well so i can see pretty good at night. I decided to go for the 35% i will take some pics asap and attempt to post them up.
first impression...WOW huge difference. no need to wear sunglasses in the car anymore. at night its not bad at all it cuts down on all the glare from other peoples headlights and i feel i can see better just from that alone. i would not do anything darker than the 35% because then you really start to compromise visibility at night. i think it looks great. and for 50 bux i couldnt beat the price.
