VQ35 thermostat in a VQ30?

from the responses I got from my "weak heater" thread to replace the t-stat, will the t-stat from a VQ35 fit into our VQ30's w/o any problems? and is the t-stat lower than the VQ30's 195 degree t-stat?

The stock VQ30 and VQ35 thermostats are both 180*F from the eFSMs. From looking at them, they look to have the same bolt pattern. I bet they do just knowing how compatible they should be, but I wouldn't promise you. Don't blame me if it doesn't fit. However VQ35 comes out at a different angle, so the coolant piping might kink a little.

That said, there is no reason to get a VQ35 thermostat unless you can get one for significantly cheaper than a VQ30. (very unlikely) There is no performance gain unless you get an aftermarket lower temperature one and they are really expensive, and won't do anything useful on a relatively stock car. Most likely you should just get a $15 one at autozone, etc.

If you really want a cooler thermostat then you should look into modding the stock thermostat to open at a lower temp as seen here: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=215989

Just put a stock replacement thermostat in your car and enjoy some good heat.
