Help...ran diag test...

I just got a cel pop up. I ran the test and got back a crankshaft positioning sensor. But my engine is running just fine. So would this be just a bad sensor/connector or could it be something internal even though I don't notice a difference in how my car is running. Has anyone else ran into this?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Ryan

test it with a multi meter, clean the sensor, test again.

Reset the ecu and see if it comes back. During the few days your waiting for the ecu to run its cycle, start shopping for one just incase.

If your car doesnt start up one day, you know why.

I bet it doesn't start as good as it should

CPS typically points to a starting problem, and has little to no effect on driveability(once it's on)

Sort of a variance of what Mr Deezy states.

You're right...it has been starting kinda hard lately. Wasn't sure if that was related...thought that was just the cold weather here but now it's making sense. Another follow up question, when I ran diag. test...it came back with 04-07. Now I'm reading about the sensors and find that there are 2 of them. Does this 04-07 code point to both or just one of them? Also if you could point me as to where exactly both of these are located so I can reconnect and clean then reset my cel to see if that helps (I'm searching for my chilton). I have had experience changing knock sensor, all 3 o2 sensors, and the oil pressure sender.

Thanks again!

0407 is CPS (REF)
That sensor is located on the main pully. You can access it by turning the steering all the way to the right and looking behind the right front inner wheel well splash shield.
