I'm running Illuminas and S-techs Very pleased I live in Maine where the roads go through probably the biggest change from summer to winter out of anywhere and I haven't hit bumpstops as of yet. for the summer I was running 5F 5R and could feel every little June bug I'd run over in the road! They leveled out very nicely good aggresive stance. I think the Stechs could be a tad stiffer all around, but they dropped me exactly what they claimed 2"-1.8". These are not a "smooth compfortable ride" that's what stock is for. Body lean/roll in cornering and brakeing is virtually eliminated

just received an email from Ksport....they didnt give me rates because they are progressive...so i responded by telling them i know they are progressive and if i could get the range of rates they operate in...so ill get back as soon as they get back to me

Well, my setting is second from softest!!
Also, as far as the drop, it looks pretty good, anything lower would probably mess up the ride feel even more...

Handling is great though...
car feels a lot nimbler and ...lighter?

Give me some opinions
out of those get the tokico kit. the stechs are garbage, and no one knows anything on the ksports yet. you cant compare them with their coilovers either since they are totally different.

True. Just keep in mind that from currently available info, the jump from Eibachs to coilovers is bigger than the jump from stock to Eibachs. Next best thing, yes... but it's a distant second place.

Very possible. This is due to our suspension geometry, which starts causing weird things when you go too low -- in short, at a certain point, going lower won't make your handling any better.

Of course, some of the more hardcore racers run extreme drops, like 4", and none of them ever complains about handling... so take it as you will.

Sorry... but if you don't want to put the effort into learning and deciding, then don't expect to have everything you want. There are no easy answers here.

With lowering springs, your struts will bottom out before your chassis because the springs will reduce suspension travel.

With coilovers -- and I'm talking about true coilovers, not Ground Controls -- you get much more suspension travel, so they won't bottom out. And if you're only dropping ~2", they will easily keep your chassis off the ground because they have much stiffer springs.

Ride quality will be similar even though coilovers are similar, because with coilovers you're getting springs and shocks that are matched.

So if you want to be guaranteed not to bottom out, you need coilovers.

Not really. Adjustable struts/shocks can change your ride quality, but the stiffness of the springs is the main thing that determines whether you'll bottom out.

Progressive. And quite soft -- they're barely stiff enough for the drop they give.

With my experience, for the price of springs and shocks, might as well go with D2s.

Yep. With the price of KSports or D2s nowadays (*~800$ shipped), good coilovers that do their job just fine and might shave 35-40 pounds from your car at the same time, there's just no point in getting stuck/springs anymore. IMHO anyway.

Plus, who wouldn't want something that looks this good on their cars.

I guess the extra people who can't afford the extra money to invest into coilovers

stechs published spring rates are about 3.5 kg/mm front and 5 rear. i belive they are progressive so im puzzled why they are only 1 number. eibachs are about 3 to 5 front and 3 to 6 rear. compare that to coilovers which are around 6 to 9 front and 6 to 8 rear. i can convert those to ibf/in if you want. stock se is 2.1f/3.6r.
