Weird 4k rpm idle

Sometimes when im messing with my audio and have the car on ON and the engine not started, i mess with it for like 20 minutes. Then i start it, and it idles at a little below 4k rpm! I let it go for 30 seconds to see if it would drop, but it didn't. When i put the clutch in and put the car in gear, the RPM's drop to normal, and then put it back to neutral, and the RPM's are normal 550-650 again. So far in the past 2 weeks, its done that twice, both times were after messing with my audio for 20 or more minutes. Could this be some way for the car to recharge the battery maybe? I dont know about that because the car isnt actually moving.
