looking for reccomendations on a great aftermarket alarm system

well i've finally had my fill with the alarm system on my car. of course my max came with a factory alarm but the first owner of the car lost all of his keys and instead of going to the dealership and buying a new key fob, he elected to buy the cheapest aftermarket alarm system he could find and install it himself. needless to say my electrical system is hardly working properly- when i turn off the car only certain doors will unlock, when i turn it on only certain doors will lock, and a few of my window switches dont work. the straw that broke the camels back though was when the alarm would go off at random times, and even my factory alarm would go off at random times. infact i had to be called out of class a few times at school because my factory alarm had been going off all morning in the parking lot. so i took the factory alarm fuse out and have been searching for a better solution to the problem since.

now what i would prefer out of everything would be to just re-install a factory alarm with a factory keyfob and tear out all of the aftermarket alarm thats in my car. this way i'd be able to use the signature maxima window roll down feature, and with a little luck window roll up feature aswell. but after talking to a few people i realized that this would be more expensive then just getting a new aftermarket alarm in; so i guess i will just have to settle with that.

so what kind of aftermarket alarms does everyone have? oh and if you have some suggestions for my situation in general feel free to comment.

Yeah, I had much of the same problem. The PO said it was an Intelliguard 9000 (fancy-*** alarm) but when I finally took it into the shop they said it was something really different and pretty old.

What're you talking about signature Maxima window roll-up/roll-down? Did 4th gens seriously do that?

Vipers seem to be the alarm of choice around here, but I don't know much besides that and can't tell you much.

I've had the Viper 791 before and now I have the Clifford 3.5. They are practically the same alarm. Its pretty much one of the top of the line. And Clifford has even higher line than the 3.5. Don is having a special GD but for locals. But take a look at the thread to get more info.

aight thanks for all yall's suggestions but now my installer has suggested another idea. i live in a fairly low crime area and i was thinking about just getting keyless plus window controls but have no actual alarm system. now honestly, if a car theif wants to steal your car he's going to get it, and think about this- how often have you heard an alarm going off in a parking lot and thought nothing of it. i mean its not like i live in the bronx, so is it really a necessity to have an alarm system?

Actually if you have the Intelliguard you already have quite a good system. If theres a problem with it, go to your local Clifford dealer and have them warranty it.
