Car dead, need to find ECCS relay - HELP
Hey guys, well my car died on x-mas eve and I pulled 0802 Crank position (POS). I replaced the sensor today, still have a no start condition. Further trouble shooting revealed no 5 volt signal to that sensor and the mass air flow, all controlled by the ECCS relay.
The problem is, the Haynes shop manual doesn't tell me where that relay is located. It doesn't seem to be under the hood in either relay box (at least it's not labeled that way).
Can anybody with a factory service manual find where the ECCS relay is located?
Thanks in advance...
Tom

here try this I just looked for it and found a few things but nothing particularly telling me where it is. You might have more luck

I'm looking through a FSM I just downloaded and can't find it either.
Both the Haynes and the FSM point to the ECCS relay for the source of the 5volts for both the CPS (POS) and the MAF sensor. Both of those sensors on my car don't have power. I have no idea what ECCS stands for....
UPDATE: Just got it to start for a second.....
I'm blowing engine control fuse #58 10amp. A white wire that goes to an engine mount and back to the ECCS relay. From there, if the relay is energized the circuit goes down to crank position REF??????? and to the MAF sensor.
Strange that I keep pulling CPS (POS) error code 0802 error code. They are both on the same relay, so I really think I have a shorted relay in the car.

The flat bed is coming tomorrow to take Max to the hospital. I have what appears to be a short in the engine wiring harness between the eccs relay and the crank position sensor power lead. The 5 volt supply line which also feeds the MAF is at ground level.
Fuse #58 for engine management controls keeps blowing.
I'm not happy...
Wasted a whole day trouble shooting, I have the whole thing torn apart. It's off to the shop, to damn cold to be working outside.

UPDATE: - This was a good one.
Fuse #58 is an engine component#2 fuse directly in line with crank position (POS). It kept on blowing even after we cleared the circuit to the CPS. TWO & A HALF HOURS later we found the coil pack on the #4 cylinder shorted to ground. Replaced that coil pack, put yet another new fuse in location #58 and Max is up and running again. Neither the Haynes manual, All Data or the FSM linked us from that fuse to the coils. A multimeter and three techs found the link and the problem.
So much for OBDII
- It never threw any other codes except CPS (POS) over and over again. It never picked up the shorted coil or any problems with the ignition circuit, which was the cause of the failure.
The ECCS relay in my 99 is labled as EGI. Thanks Nissan.
