Engine Knock after manifold install

Ok so here's the problem the engine is making a knocking sound after we installed the 00VI. I did not drop anything down into the cylinders and my friend said he didn't either, we were both very careful when the upper manifold was off. When we took everything back off we didn't see anything down in the cylinders at all but we did see some coolant. Any ideas?

Sounds like a Head Gasket to me, and did you have the heads off also or just the manifold?

Just the manifold was off, but the coolant hose from the rear valve cover to the front valve cover was cracked. But do you think the coolant could be causing the knocking?

How could it be the HG if all he did is the intake manifold.

So your car didn't make the knocking sound before you did the manifold and after you did it thats when it appeared. Did the knocking go away after awhile or is it still there. I ask this because I can't remember if it made this sound from when I installed the 00VI on my car (about 1 year ago).

When I put my ear to it, sounds like its coming from inside the manifold, right in the middle of both heads..

I believe its a coolant line really didn't check, but its the one next to the timing chain cover and fuel rail.

Yeah I heard your video it sound something similar to your but not exactly I'll try and get a clip of it. But maybe its something with the 95-96 models that are making it make this sound because his is a 1996 SE. Like the EGR?.

Thats a Valve Cover Breather. No coolant runs through that line and there is, you have a huge problem..lol. I was doing the manifold gasket on my buddies car and that was ripped..I put some electrical tape on it. That shouldnt cause any problems if thats ripped a bit from being dryed out.

What do you all think drain the oil and start it up again? Or just say F it and rev the hell out of the engine and blow it then drop a 3.5 in there (J/K). Serouisly what do you think?

Update: We took out the spark plugs and cranked the car (suggest buy a guy that owns a Performace Car Shop). After we plugged everything back up the car won't turn over. So we are going to try and get some new spark plugs tomorrow because the old ones looked really bad.

It won't start up now, it just cranks. I don't know WTF happened to his car it's like it's possessed. Also the back 3 plugs had oil on them (meaning oil was on the coil pack and spark plug).

Check your upper manifold gasket. Make sure that its mated correctly to the lower manifold. You did replace that correct ?? Sounds to me like somthing happend during the install. Something from above. Something that you couldnt control

Got her running again

Well we changed the spark plugs, replaced oil and doubled checked everything. Then he started the car up and............the engine was still knocking and it's a loud knock too. So lets just say he was not happy person, so me being the person I am said "Fock it lets take for a drive, its the least we can do since we got it running again." He said "Man, I don't know about that." So we back it out of the drive and start driving it and the knock speeds up with the cars acceleration. Things are not looking to good until I said turn around and as we turned around the knock stops for a second. Then the knock comes back for about couple more seconds and is gone again this time it does not not for about 30 seconds. This goes off and on for until the knocking stops completely. We were some very happy people when the knocking stopped. I will post a short video of his car running when putfile gets done with maintenance.

Your knocking sounds worse than mine, because if you can hear it in the car. omg.. you cant hear mine even in the engine bay, u have to stick ur ear on the manifold.

His car was making the knocking sound but went away. I just wanted to put my car in the video:attention , no real reason why mines is in the video. His car is working great now all his is waiting on is the rpm switch.
