Problem with CD player???

Yeah, I still have the factory head unit and I have been having problems with it. When I put in a cd, it makes a weird high pitched noise ( like it is trying to read the disk) and then error comes up on the screen. My tape player still works and the radio as well. I had this problem but one day i disconnected my battery and it came back on. I did this today and still the same problem. Before it did this my cds were doing a lot of skipping so I will buy a disc cleaner. If you have any solutions please help.

It may be that its gotten dirty over the years. What year is your max?

There is a fix for the cd err radio problem in the FAQ section.
My Bose player did that and then the rest of the radio went downhill quickly. It would suddenly go dead or go on and off by itself or play without the display lighting up. The dealer wanted $300 to send it to a repair place in California, but I bought one on ebay for $175.00 from xw1600. He was the only one who gave any guarantee.
Good luck

Do you have the Bose or non-Bose CD player?

I have 95' GLE w/ the Bose addition. I had this problem before and one day i had to disconnect my battery and it came back on. I went to bestbuy yesterday and bought a $20 disc cleaner; the noise came back before the disc loaded. Thats all I can think of..

Cleaning it won't help with that problem. You can replace it for around $200 for a good used one or remove it and send it off to be repaired for about the same price. There are at least 2 experienced reputable places that I know of that repair them but I don't have the links anymore since my computer crashed and I lost all my favorites. If I find the links I will post tjem or PM you if you are interested.

I've been having problems with my Bose CD/tape deck too. My tape player keeps inserting and ejecting the tape and making a bunch of clicking sounds for about 2 minutes after the ignition is on, and then it stops. Any Ideas??

It's not anything you can easily fix yourself. You can replace it or send it for repair. It will eventually eat a tape and then you will be really screwed.
