With the motor . . . none.
various years had various issues.

97, earrly 98's alterntor recall.
99 coil packs.
besides that, its up to how the car was maintained.

P.s. - I think I saw you car on 85N a while back, but you had bondo and it was sanded down.

95 was a good year. No EGR on the 95s. It has a weaker front end, meaning if you encoutered an accident at a high speed head on, it would sustain more damage than say a 96 or mianly than a 97.

its rumored the 95s are the fastest. Found a 95 for sale?

I don't know where rumors like these get started, but this is not true. 95's certainly do have EGR.

I wish I could remember the thread and the person who said it. . . I'll have to search.

I'll check my brothers 95, when he gets back later tonight.

Yeah I found a local 95. I just wanted to weigh this out some more.

Anyone know how similar the axles are betwean the vg.ve, and vq?

About the weaker front ends... I was going to put the vq in my 3rd gen. From what i've seen, 3rd gens take a good hit.

yep, my 95 has egr, and the fast part may be from the ecm, seems most look for them to send out to tweak.

all year max's have the rattle timing chain (due to bad/wearing out tensioner). I wouldnt really label the problem a 95/96.

Although I do have the rattle at start up, and lately it seems like its becomming a bit more evident.

All 95 maximas have EGR's. 95 Gxe's are the fastest. Lightest 5-speed, less emissions **** but you will run into problems. expect with a car thats 10 years old things that werent replaced will be replaced soon enough.

-Alternator
-Battery
-Starter
-Plugs
-Belts
-Fuel filter
-PCV
-Motor mounts
-O2 sensors
-fluids flush
-ECT....

its hard to find a 10 year old 95 maxima with low miles and it being at 100k flawless. Never the less Ive gone through replacing everything on that list, including a new trans, clutch, flywheel, exhaust gaskets, new cat, new exhaust hanger and now i need a new slave, clutch bleed/flush and a shifter bushing. sucks huh. Talk about donating my body every week for this car.

All good info. I'm a little concerned about the timing chain, I always had a timing belt. Can the tensioner be replaced with the chain being removed? And how much does a tensioner cost?

tensioner and guide cost around ~$80. Chains does not have to come off.

Your thinking is backwards, timing belt is what you need to be concerned with, not timing chain. Timing chains never need to be changed and never go bad, whereas belts require replacement.

The tensioner thing only happens at startup, it happens before the oil pressure has taken all the slack out of the timing chain. After 2 seconds the oil pressure is up and the noise goes away.

Don't worry bout who said it, just remember not to trust everything that person says in the future, because they are dead wrong lol. I've got two 95s out in the garage right now, both with EGRs on them. I've also got the 95 FSM open to the section on the EGR system.
