Belt tensioner to replace alternator
Belt tensioner to replace alternator
Alright i am changing my alternator out for a new one. I am at the stage where you are supposed to loosen the belt tensioner to get the drive belt off. I know that you are supposed to turn it like a million of times.
But what way am i supposed to turn it left or right to loosen it? Because Bags(screenname) on here said that im supposed to turn it opposite to screw it loose. I guess I will just keep on turning it until I feel that the drive belt is loose enough.
Any help or ideas are great!!!!!!!!!!??????????

yea its a reverse threaded bolt. u must first loosen the tensioner pulley bolt. its 14mm. dont take it off just loosen. and then for the bolt on the top that tensions the bolt, spray it with some wd-40 mine froze on there and i turned it too hard and snapped the little shaft it goes on. its a 25 dollar part and u can only get it from nissan.
You must first loosen the nut on the tensioner pulley before turning the adjuster to the left. The nut on the tensioner pulley is a 14mm located in the middle of the pulley. You will need a wrench to do this and maybe some type of breaker to get it loose. You can see this pulley from above ( its the only 1 with no ribs) but will have to loosen from below.

vortech u do not need to loosen the nut from underneath. you dont need a breaker and you dont need to loosen any of the a/c compressor bolts. take off the rad brackets, lower rad hose, push the rad up,pull the alt out. i changed my alt about 8 times. due to getting crappy high output ones. screw can-am im waiting for my ohio gen to come. but yeah alot of the things u posted do not need to be done. next time just edit one post instead of making 5 new posts. also you dont need to take the fans out. just push them up...

everything i posted was basically reposted by u in different words. not to mention 1/2 of the steps u added were pointless and take way too much time. alternator swap shouldnt take ne more than 45 minutes in and out and new one back in.
