ks and power loss(yes I read the stickies!)
I posted a while back about feeling like my car didn't have much power and I think I found my problem. After getting walked by a stock v6 stang and a 3.5 altima like I was standing still I began to question my car. I decided to pull the codes and low and behold I got a knock sensor code as well as an 02 code. I read the stickies on the ks but I would like an opinion from you guys before I replace it. For those of you that have replaced the ks was there a noticeable difference in performance and fuel consumption after you changed it, or am I just dreaming that I have a fast car instead of a family sedan
I've owned the car for 5 months and am wondering if maybe I've never felt the true power of the max

Change the O2 first, clear the error codes and check if the KS comes back in about a week.
The KS code almost always comes as a ghost code when an o2 goes bad.
The 3.5 Altima should out run you. Not sure what's up with the stang???
The Injen intake isn't helping you win any races either.

wow i have the exact same problem..but i did hear somewhere that the 02 sensor code may come up, bc the bad knock sensor makes the air/fuel mixture different so the 02 sensor reads it wrong. i dont know if this is true though, but if it were... wouldnt it make sense to change the ks first and then see if the 02 code still comes up
i am going to chage both anyway..
i hear u get about 2-5 MPG back when u replace the bad ks as well as your power under 3000RPM back...so a noticeable difference and def worth it i would think

I am going to replace it for sure it's just a matter of cash flow. I can definitely feel teh advanced timing from the knock sensor not working because until it hits 3000 it is like driving a damn tuna boat, I'm not concerned about winning races just happened to notice it when I was messing around with a couple of friends, after all....it is a family sedan....just the best damn family sedan my money can buy!

how many miles u got on it? i replaced mine at 123000 miles and had the KS code. bought a new KS on ebay for 73, replaced it, code went away. now car pulls better, but i still c it as a slow car so i'm gonna stop puttin money in it...

i had my ks go out at about 90k. i also had a o2 and a ks code. i figured id change the ks first. and since ive changed my ks the o2 sensor didnt come up. my thing is id would change the ks first since you know you have to change that anyways.
