Trans diagnosis help needed

Alrighty, my transmission is making weird noises as of late. Ive noticed in any drive gear (forward or reverse) that there is a grinding/scraping/squeaking sound coming from it. when shifted into neutral, it tends to go away for a few seconds, but slowly comes back. Its not horribly loud, but ive never heard it before about a week ago. Its quiet enough that i can only hear it with a door open or window down while idling. Anybody experience anything similar?
I am sure that it needs a fluid change in the near future, but i wouldnt think that that would cause this problem. Feedback is of course, greatly appreciated
