Instruction For Installing Remote Starter?

Hey,

I decided to give this a shot...so i gave it a shot, and unfortunately without access to a haynes manual i cant even find the damn 12v wire for the ignition switch to splice in the power. Making my quest verry difficult. is there anywhere where i can find remote starter installation instruction for the 4th gen? even basic instruction would help. im lookin at instructions for the car starter i have and it's not being clear...pictures are my friend.

Second Starter: green/black or red/blue, (+), ignition harness
Ignition: black/white or black/red, (+), ignition harness
Accessory: red/yellow or red, (+), ignition harness
Second Accessory: blue or white/blue, (+), ignition harness
Power Lock: light green/red, (-), in drivers door at switch
Power Unlock: green/yellow, (-), in drivers door at switch, requires double pulse
Lock Motor: brown/white, in drivers door at switch
Unlock Motor: brown, in drivers door at switch
Parking Lights: red/green, (+), steering column
Door Trigger: red/white, (-), low in drivers kick
Trunk Pin: purple/yellow, (-), drivers kick or BCM, BCM is located just below radio
Hood Pin: yellow/black, (-), BCM located just below radio
Trunk Release: purple/yellow, (-), low drivers kick
Factory Alarm Arm: arms with lock
Factory Alarm Disarm: arms with unlock
Tachometer: white/green, ac, at ECM. The ECM is located in the front of the center console on the transmission hump. The wiring is easily reached by removing the small black panel just to the front of the center console on the passenger side. the wire is in the middle row, 7th one in from the left.
Brake Wire: red/green, (+), at brake switch

Not easy?...wat's not easy about splicing wires together then following programming directions. i mean, i've put in my system, my head unit, re-wired my corner lights, put in my boy's fogs, 9007 conversion.....i have wiring experience i think.

I've not done that much wiring before in a car, but it wasn't all that bad to do the install of the Valet 562t I got from Pearl96Max in his GD. It was more time consuming than anything else, finding the wires and splicing into them (soldering, not half-assed wire taps or just wrapping the wires around eachother and electrical taping).

As long as you have a second car to use (i.e. can afford downtime) it's not a problem.

Its a little different than the above mentioned products, although still not extremely difficult to do. WHat has my concerns was your original post of "I cant even find 12V" This would lead me to believe your not in possesion of any sort of DMM, which would definately be recomended to have.

yea its been awhile. i ended up making 2 relays, one for the 2nd starter and 2nd acc, then i find out that the remote starter had a switchable wire and i could have saved some time.... if i dont include looking up the diagrams and putting away my tools it took me about 2 hours to wire it up. can you say slacker? oh yea and i did it outside in the rain.

All that isnt experience..... intalling a remote start with keyless entry and security is experience... besides its not my car ur working on.. if you feel confident go ahead but have someone around that knows what they are doing... (not trying to be rude)

Well, as Don said, you should invest in a DMM: Digital Multi-Meter. You can get a cheapy one if you never plan on doing any more electrical tinkering on your car (which includes engine sensor stuff) that'll tell you volts/current, ohms/resistance, and continuity. Radioshack will have some to get you started, I'm sure everybody has their own favorite. Ask Don to see what he uses.

I installed my own RSX 3.5 about 2 years ago, been working great ever since...

Take your time and solder everything together, tape it up good, use zipties, get it out of the way, etc etc...

and get a DMM like don said, you cant install without it.

Unless you already know all the wires off the top of your head and no verification is needed.
