02 Sensors, Does Left Mean Front or Rear??

I got a CEL last week and I finally pulled the codes yesterday. I'm getting:

1001 - Front Left Htd 02 sensor heater
0707 - Rear Heated O2 sensor

Obviously the rear heated 02 is the one behind the cat... no problem.

But even after checking the stickies I'm not sure if the Front Left means the sensor from the front bank or the rear bank of the engine....

The page that the sticky sends me to says:

The "Left" sensor is the one furthest to the front of the vehicle.

BUT, the How-To sticky says:

The right cylinder bank is also called the rear bank. It is cylinders 1,3,5.

Which one is right??

1001 - Front left is the one in the y-pipe closest to the radiator (that's the front bank of cylinders, 2, 4, 6).

0707 = rear o2 sensor - thats the one behind the catalytic converter.

They make sockets that are specifically designed to remove and install O2 Sensors. I got one at autozone for like 10 bucks.

hate to hijack the thread, but i got a code for Front Right HTd 02 Sensor Heater, this would be the rear one on the y pipe? How much do these sensors run anyways?

Yes, that would be the rear one on the y-pipe as we've just learned....

I ordered the Bosch #12342 from Advance for $69.99. They had a couple of other brands listed, but I chose Bosch because I'm not familiar with the others. I'm sure you can find a different brand for less money.

i can't for the love of my car remove the REAR after cat o2.

i tried taknig off the guard, but it snapped. so now im having an easier time accessing the o2 but nothing works. i tried wd40 (just a tad) still no use.

i tried jacking the car up to get 2 hands, still no use. i didn't feel safe to shake the car w/ force as the exhaust was moving a bit.. any ideas? i was thinking of taking it to a shop... or something.

Try using a penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench. Let it sit for 30 min. or so. I don't think WD40 works as well.
