I tried something new on my last tank of gas. I went from an average of 360/tank to this 435-mile tank! Wanna know what I did?

I drove the posted speed limit on every road I drove. Cruised at 55 (admittedly, sometimes took it up to around 58-59) on the highway, and went easy on the accelerator when starting from stop, and at all other times, for that matter.

75 miles ain't bad for 5 extra minutes per trip in the car I love so much.

Do you have significant mods? I got 463 miles out of one tank driving at an average of 77 MPH. If I drive 55, I should get over 500 MPG.

4 real ?

i only get about 270 mpg, ive never stretched it really far into empty because im not really sure about the tank size... oh yeah , is there a light that comes on when you need gas , i havent had my max that long , and i still dont know the little things that a normal person would take the time to find out. i also cruise at about 100 mph... that might be the problem ,,, but does anyone else know what might be the problem, if there is one ? i have a 95 gxe ... id like to get 370 mpg,,, save some money for more mods.

I am poking fun at you. There is no car that can get 270 MPG but I know what you meant.

How the HELL do you people get 300+ miles on a tank?

Does anyone here drive all city? And I mean serious city driving, like NYC like myself perhaps?
What do you guys get in strictly city, stop and go, 15 mile per hour traffic jam NYC driving?

I seem to get no more then 13-14 miles per gallon driving ont he Belt Parkway at 50 mph.

I get about 350 a tank, and thats with my uh, spirited driving. When we went to LSP, I still got about 320 on that tank. And there is a lillte yellow light that glows under the gas guage needle when you have two gallons left in the tank.

I get about 350/miles to a tank & that's with a mixture of stop & go & freeway. That's a helluva lot better than my 200 miles to a tank on my 91

Gas is yummy

I usually can stretch it to 350 miles on a tank from my frequent trips from Boston to Upstate NY, and thats driving at about 90 the whole way, and some very spirited driving on the twisties upstate. But it doesnt really matter the price of gas that much, I go to the Indian Reservations and pickup the premium $hit for $1.65! But then again they do get the money I saved cause I loose it all at the Casino!

AAA have me on their blacklist or something cuz they've been bringing me spare gas for like ages. And does anyone know how to turn off that little orange round light next to my gas tank meter... that thing never turns off

You guys make me feel really damn good about getting 463 miles out of a tank. I can go from MA to DC (about 460 mles) on one tank and the light still doesn't come on.

Meaning all highway right? I think most people who are talking about getting 300-350 are driving a mixture of stop-and-go and highway.

That's what I do and I get about 320/tank. Just over 20mpg.

My last trip to DC, I was stuck in Boston traffic for about 10 miles. Then when I got to NY, I was stuck in traffic on the Saw Mill Parkway (stop and go). It was mostly highway driving. I usually don't count the city mpg. I am mainly concerned with highway mileage because I travel so much.

Off topic for a moment, How is your car? Do you have any pics after repairs?

I use 89 but I do notice my car running better when accelerating with the use of 93 octane.

Sheesh, the saw mill parkway is not traffic! You want NYC traffic?? Try the Cross Bronx Expressway during the day, or Major deegan and FDR drive at 7-9 AM. The saw mill stuff you must have experienced were baby steps.

By the way, if you're going from Boston to DC, why even bother with the Saw Mill??

I was trying something new from RT84 and I didn't want to tell my girl I "f"ed up. It was in rush hour traffic so I think RT15 would have been the same one I hit NY anyway. I still got there in 7 hours tho.
