sputtering sound at 2K rpm?

i have a 95 max and i know my ks is bad and possibly one of my 02 sensors bc the cel light goes on and off, but when im goin about 15-20 and are around 2000 rpm..my car starts to hesitate and run like a cylinder is misfiring, but i know one isnt, bc ive had this happen to me once already. it also makes this horrible sputtering sound like its going to die. i just had a budget y pipe installed about 2 weeks ago and i do have the dreaded bees sound, but if the y pipe wasnt put on all the way or there is a hole somewhere in the flex or something...would this cause the car to run really sluggish, or could it just be a combination of the bad ks and 02 sensor? this has only been happening since my y pipe has been installed, so i dont think it could be the ks, bc thats been bad for months

i know there was a thread similar to this a little while back, but the writer of it didnt seem to really get any straight answer

thanks

also if it is the flex section that is bad, would it be a bad idea to just replace it with regular exhaust pipe instead of that stuff or is there no way to retrofit the steel in there?

To my knowledge its the flex section that is supposed to eliminate the bees in a can sound.... you want to KEEP the flex section. Warpseed sells just a flex section that you can have installed on your y-pipe even if it's not their y. I have their y and I have no hint of the bees sound, so I can attest to it being a good flex section.

As for the o2 sensor, it may have been mishandled during removal from the old and installation into the new y. Even if it wasn't mishandled, the fact that it was handled period could have disturbed it enough to make it quit working if it was already old and on it's way out anyway. One of my two front o2 sensors went bad also when I had my y installed. A combination of a bad ks and bad o2 can definitely cause your car to run sluggishly because the ecu doen't quite know how to advance or retard ignition (KS), and it may be running too rich or too lean(o2).

You should start by first replacing the two sensors and you should see a decent improvement in the way the car runs.

got knock sensor and front 02 sensor replaced and also tightened throttle cable

new radiator too bc the pressure from the pressure test cracked the old one

turns out the cause of all this noise and sputtering was that there was 2 leaks in my exhaust...one by the muffler and one by the cat. no more sputtering......engine runs so much better now esp w new knock sensor. bees in the can is very minimal now due to the fixing of the leaks

=) Max is back.
