3 Quick Questions

1. my idle RPM's is 2,000 is there anyway i can get it down to 1,000.

2. How hard is it to replace the belts in my car (surpentine belts).

3. I have only antifreeze in my car the guy at jiffy lube told me i need a radiator flush is he right? i was just gonna add water.

1. Since when has this idle condition persisted/started? It could be anything from a vacuum leak, stuck throttle linkage/cable/butterfly plate, bad IACV or just need idle adjustment (as described in the stickies)

2. How hard depends on what your particular skills are. I'd rate replacing the belts as a little trickier than brakes - only because some of the bolts are at wierd angles and its hard to get good leverage (especially for the power steering belt).

3. If you don't know the mix ratio, you should probably do a complete flush and put in a correct 50/50 mix. It's not a bad idea if you don't know the maintenance history of the car.

You must have a 50/50 mix of anti/water in order to get proper cooling and anti freezing. If you drain out half rad. and refil with water it should be ok unless there is something I dont know about. Just check in it with a hygrometer(sp) or how ever you spell that.

allrighy thank you im just gonna do a radiator flush and adjust my idle using the TPS method described in the stickies and have a mechanic change my belts.

you can try and clean your aicv(also check for codes) as far as the belts you can DIY with some basic tools and yes get a meter for the coolant

idle at 2 grand ?? in drive i idle at 500....in park i idle at 675. even a thousand is high idle...
