BOSE player FAILS... WHAT TO DO? HELP!
Hi guys; My Bose cd player broke and it doesn't want to play anything so i'm stuck driving with no music... Anyways so i went to car toys and checked out the alpine decks so i can atleast change the stock bose and listen to my cds. then the guy tell me that i can get the deck but it will be hard to hook up the speakers because they are dual volt or whatever... and the deck is on a different volt... I'm not an expert on this but wtf?! I can't change my deck? Or i have to replace everything...
Kinda pissed because i wasn't able to replace it...
what's the deal with this? what should i do? is this true?
help anyone?
(i'm trying to put a screen too from REDMAX ***see group deals*** will this affect that mod too?)
thanks in advance!

Hmmmm
I think the guy at the store is correct. The Bose system works with amplifiers I believe. I think you need some sort of converter box PAC-2 or somthing of the sort. Check out the Audio Forum. I think your question is answered in the stickies!
the guy was at least on the right track....the bose headunit is UNAMPLIFIED meaning there are 4 amps in your car on each speaker....these speakers run at 1ohm therefore a regular headunit will basically burn up after a bit. you do have an option. they make a converter to use an aftermarket headunit with the bose speakers. i think its like 50 bucks from what i remember...otherwise you have to change all the speakers and run new speakerwire. just remember it wont sound as good as the bose did unless you amplify. a stock replacment radio is at most 65x4. the bose is 200 and its tweaked by bose to sound as good as it does....so unless youce got cash lyin around to replaced everything with top notch stuff just go buy the converter.....
where can i buy this converter?
either that or...
change all the speakers... two on the pillars; two on the front door panels; and two in the back by the rear window...
and an option of two more 10 or 12 inch subs in the trunk...
and then need an amplifier for the front speakers; and an amplifier for the two subs in the trunk...
not to mention the deck...
is this correct?
can anyone please tell me what kind of speakers i need on all of them?
****(SIZES OF SPEAKERS)*****
I might do it but i will need to get the pieces one by one...
thanks guys!

6 1/2 all the way around. You will need to change out your speakers out because they run a impediance of 2 ohms or use a bose adapter to control the gains of the factory amps(not good quality imo) some are better then others. I reccomend just getting new speakers.
I had a BOSE h-u that quit working (except the radio, blah) I got a wireharness that fit the bose harness from BEst Buy then I wired my new pioneer cd-player to the harness, I wired the speakers normal (twisted the postive from the car with the positive from the cd player etc), then I used low pass plugs that plug in directly to the cd-player and to the trunk to the amp. Everything seems to be fine the sub sounds GREAT (not just my opinion) and so do the stock speakers. I also have two extra 6 1/2" in the rear deck connected to the others and everything seems ok.
Since the bose is preamped when you add a aftermarket headunit it need to be converted to use the same amp as the stock bose. to do so you will need this:

From there you have to splice and connect the wires from the boses the the wires to the new unit. its not to hard.

correct.
I had an aftermarket head unit wired up with a converted to my bose speakers plus the Screen in the car.
I had a decent HU, and it sounded pretty damn close to the stock bose unit. I got rid of it because it didnt load CDs as fast, didnt have a good memory, and was causing a bad whine that was driving me crazy!

Those PAC adapters are a scam! Well, I guess they are a legitimate option if you absolutely MUST connect an aftermarket unit that only has speaker level outputs, but why not just buy a head unit with line level (RCA) outputs...then you won't need any PAC adapter. Then, get a Nissan wiring harness ($10 or less just about anywhere) and a couple of RCA plugs. Put RCA plugs on the "speaker" wires of the harness you bought and plug those into the line-out jacks on the HU...don't use the speaker wires on the HU. Not only is this cheaper and easier than using a PAC adapter, it'll sound better.
I'm happy with what I did. I replaced all speakers, bought a 4 channel amp, ran speaker wire from the amp (trunk) to the front and rear speakers and replaced the deck. Sounds great and you can probably do it all for a decent price (ebay). U always have the option of getting a 5 channel to run a sub as well or you could just get a mono amp for that.
Good luck.
Good luck.

hmm . . . I like the sound of this.
Did you do this or have and pics?
Yes, I've done this (and the PAC adapter thing too, unfortunately)...and this is better. Sorry, I don't have any pics, but there isn't much to it. You simply connect all the wires (except for the speaker wires) from the head unit to your nissan harness, as per the instructions you get with the unit/harness. Then add your RCA plugs to the "speaker" wires on the Nissan harness. I'll try to photoshop an image of what it should look like and post it here.
