i'm sure this is a repost but o well, so my friends max was running fine then just in the middle of the day it wouldn't start, so we try to turn it over and the starter clicks once then sounds like theres some clickign coming from on top of the intake. no clue what it is. we tried taking out the starter but that thing is in there like none other. what do you guys think, i think its the starter but not too sure with the noise kinda coming from on top of the intake.

 

change starter - or ck the batt. then see what you have

 

Use a digital volt meter and check your batter.. you need about 10v to crank your motor. Usually a clicking sound when trying to start the car is the starter. The starter silenoid will get hot after starting and thats usually what goes bad on starters. Sometimes if you let cool down it will work again, but then other times it'll just burn out. You'll be better off replacing the starter instead of the silenoid.

we checked the batt, got it tested at autozone, said it was fine, and gave it some charge by jumping it, but yea i think thats what its down to is the starter
