I am looking to buy an actual book manual for repairs and reference...not a CD. About how much should I expect to pay?? I've seen prices anywhere from $20 to over $100!

well if you print it out.. its gonna be a lot of printing. i think paper and ink and organinzing will be aleast $50 on your end. sometimes $100 is fair for all the work you will be needing. But remember factory service manuals have factory speical tools that they refer to by part number like special tool 100-302 and you dont know what that is.

 

If you go the printing route, you can print the sections as you need them - i.e. you'll never use the full auto tranny section, and probably never use the A/C stuff either.

I have the print copy (used, $75) and I still prefer the fresh printout for some projects.

Just get a Haynes manual. They cost peanuts.

 

yeah a haynes has just about everything in it for your basic do it yourselfer ..

 

it hink haynes cost 15 bucks at pepboys.

 

I've gotten a few FSM from Ebay. I usually pay $20 + shipping. All have been in nearly new condition (as if they've never been used). However, I wouldn't hold out for prices to go down, they're getting more rare as our cars get older. Max I'd spend is $70.

I prefer the chilton manuals, they can be found at most
automotive retailers for less than 20 bucks.

 

Haynes for $15 plus a free download of the FSM and you'll have evrything you'll ever need to repair anything on your car.

WOW! You must pay an awful lot for paper and ink!
Since a ream of paper is less than $5, your out of your mind.

 

my FSM is slightly thicker than a ream of 500. I'd say each page is 25% covered w/ink. If you're using ink-jet, it could cost a lot. Laser is the way to go (and probably faster, esp if u can duplex).

Or just goto Kinkos w/the eFSM on cd and have them print and bind it for u.
