0902 code HELP plz

My sisters 99 Max SE pulled a code that is 0902, I checked in the ECU sticky form and pulled that i might be the rear oxygen sensor. It said to check the resistance of the oxygen sensor, it seemed fine. I was woundering if a bad coil pack can cause this problem too, because the car has a weird idle. It kind of dies a little and rerevs back up to normal when sitting at a light? What are the side affects of a bad coil packs? Thanks for your inputs!!

A bad coil back won't cause an o2 sensor code, but may cause the idle issue you describe. Bad coil packs can cause hesitation, misfires, loss of power, etc.

You need to replace the downstream O2 sensor to resolve the 0902 code.

Thanks njmodi for the reply. I was woundering if it missfires or doesn't fire at all in one of the piston, wouldn't the raw gas and air go down the y-pip making an error on one of the o2 sensor? Thanks again

i had the same 0902 code as you on my 99. i repaced the rear o2 and code has not come back since.all six of my coils are less then 5,000 miles old and when i did have a bad coil i never had any 02 sensor codes. change the rear 02 to get rid of the code and a replace the coil or multiple coils to get rid of the misfire

to what deeloc said. The O2 sensor will not be triggered by the bad coils.

Thanks you guys for the info. I'll get myself a new O2 sensor and maybe if I have enough money left after buying a laptop, get all 6 new coil packs for my sister. Thanks again.

Oh btw 99's are notorious for flaky coil packs... so you're doing the right thing by replacing them. You can get all 6 for about 350 from Dave Burnette - look him up in the stickies or look up Garrands Nissan online.
