As i'm making the door pillars the same color as my car....

So i have a pebble beach (gold) gxe. I heated up the plastic and pulled the pieces off my front doors, looks great. as im going to the back doors, i put a nick into the vynal of the left rear door with my razorblade, and to my surprise.. under the black plastic vynal covering is red. yes, metallic red paint (i think it's the maroon color.) Luckily i didn't pull it off because i believe the whole strip under the black vynal is red. Has this ever happened to anyone? The car was purchased new so there was no way a previous owner could have done this. So now my front doors have the black plastic taken off of them and my rears have them on. It doesn't look awful but i would like to have them look the same.
Weird huh?

Somethings still not right here...

Is there a VIN sticker on the door frame - near the child-lock IIRC...

Interesting, makes me not want to try this. Do you notice any differnences in the paint color between the two doors?

doors are painted one color at the factory and then all colors but black get the black vynal during assebly. your car must have had a dent in the door and the dealer fixed it, with a different color door. to save money only the parts seen were repainted to match.

He said the previous owner bought it right off the lot so therefore there was a problem before with the previous owner like a dent or it was hit.

Start to check the other side and see if it red or not because if it is your car was probably hit in the rear

Nope the car was bought brand new off the lot. The inside of the door is gold just like the rest of the car. I opened the rear door and from the inside i removed part of the weatherstripping and i can see that it goes from gold to red. I'll see if i can snap a few pictures. Maybe i'll start to unpeal more and see what's under there.

Update: Just took a look at it and the VINs are different. It took my dad and I a good 15 minutes to come up with a conclusion. My mom (it's her pervious car) had gotten into a minor fender bender with that door and rear 1/4 panel about 6 years ago. It wasn't so bad so i thought they could just fix it w/o replacing the door. Anyhow, apparently the door was resprayed and replaced (it looks like it had been on the car since purchased new) Bummer though, b/c i wanted to complete that modification. Oh another mystery.

Same exact thing happened to me. When the car was my dad's (bought new off lot) he got hit one night, and apparently they replaced my door also. Funny thing is, the paint under the vinyl is also rosewood. Makes me wonder where are they getting all these rosewood maxima doors.....

if you want the black tap I have a set for the "drivers front" and for the the passenger back.
I tried on mine and they were back, so I decided to leave them be, and bought the tape to replace, eventualy I crashed the car and still have it.

20 paypal and both of them are yours.

A few months ago I started to take off the plastic on the driver's door, and when I moved to the rear door I noticed that the black was painted on. Same with the other 2 doors.

I can't imagine why it was like that, so now I have 1 white door pillar, and 3 black ones.

I'm having mine painted back black instead of rosewood because I like the black with tinted windows. and the paint will not fade out like the vinyl pieces did.

i've got graphite spray and I was thinking about using it on the door pillars...

So graphite on pearl white, and soon to be self tinted winodows, what do you think?

on the outside where the front door and back door come together (between the windows there is a black section on the door. from the factory it was a vinyl "sticker". if your doors have not been replaced or repainted with a different color, you can peel the sticker off and it will be the same color as the car under it.

Why don't you just buy another replacement door from a junkyard?
