Keyless entry unit off ebay
Keyless entry unit off ebay
I just picked up this off of ebay.

Does anyone know what those part numbers are they he is talking about? I'm just curious if it will work with my 99 SE-L. I currently don't have a module in the trunk but found the harness hanging there. I would think if this is the right module I could just hook it up buy a remote and program it. I'm not sure about the antenna though.. i doubt the module will come with it.

Getting keyless to work is a big more complicated than just buying the module in the trunk. I don't know ALL that is involved, but I do know that the module in the trunk isn't the only component.
i don't know the answer you are looking for, but i could e-mail you the section of the service manual for my 97 that covers this. it has circuit descriptions and drawings of component locations, but it is not a training tutorial. it is an Adobe Acrobat file that is about 4.5 mb.
if you want it, e-mail me at dennismik@yahoo.com with your e-mail address.

why diddnt you just go aftermarket. i think most people on here if they actually bought a maxima that diddnt have keyless (ive never seen one) they went aftermarket. one question....you have an SE-L and you dont have keyless entry ? how weird is that first time ive ever seen that...

I was initially going to go with the aftermarket but when i saw this I went for it. It is cheaper, possibly less wiring and losing my immobilation security. Plus I've just had two relatives go with aftermarket systems and they go through batteries constantly. I figured I'd give this a shot, if it doesn't work I can always sell the module on the org or ebay.

I've looked at the wiring diagrams and it looks like all I need to do is pop the module in there and program some remotes. Nissan has all the wiring already in there, and since the rear defroster window elements doubles as a antenna I have everything covered.

I hate to break it to you but your wrong.
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...3&postcount=50The 'L' stands for Limited not leather. I did a carfax report before buying the car and checked the car's history well enough to know that it isn't salvaged and that it is what the badging says.
Sorry man I didn't do my home work before I opened my mouth.Check out at www.cardomain.com tell me what you think.
Well I got the module in the mail today. This is what it looks like, the harness connector on the left looks like what i expected but the plug to the right of that doesn't. I didn't see anything in the service manual about it either. It appears to be a inlet for an antenna but from what i could make out in the manual the antenna leads are part of the main harness. Is it a dealer plug so they can access the computer or something?
Anyways, if anyone knows what the port for is on the right let me know. Also and maybe more importantly, I noticed all keyless remotes sold on ebay have 2 numbers a "FCC ID" and a "ISC"
Remotes listed for a 95-99 maxima are
FCC ID: A269ZUA078
ISC: 700 K1359
The module I bought has these numbers on it
FCC ID: A269ZUA079
ISC: 700 K1359
I'm guessing they suppose to match, but I looked up the ...A078 number and find tons of info and stuff on ebay, and I can't find anything on the ...A079 number. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same situation
I was in the same situation you were... 99 SE-L with no keyless entry. I even had the dealer (Team Nissan in Marietta, GA) check it out, and they could not figure out why the thing didn't have keyless entry. My maxima has Bose, but that's it. No leather, no ABS. I've got that useless red light, though.
I know for a fact it's not as simple as buying the module. The guys at the dealership pulled a module from another 99 max they had on the lot and plugged it in, and it still wouldn't work. The light kept on just blinking and doing nothing else. The lead tech tried some funky door-lock door-unlock thing with the key in the ignition, but the red light (that apparently has to start flashing or something) would not change. Anyway, I gave up on the factory keyless, but we did find out that I was also missing: a hood-shut sensor that is mounted right in front of your battery on the piece of body frame (there was wire, no sensor. I actually bought one of these from the parts counter, and it still didn't work). Also, according to the tech, to have keyless you must also have the electronic trunk-release, which I dont. I have a purple & yellow cable in side the driver's side door panel where it's supposed to plug-in, but there's no cut-out in my door panel for the electric switch (I think it mounts under the armrest). My trunk/fuel door release is a lever on the floorboard attached to a pull cable.
What I ended up doing was getting a Viper RSX3.5 two-way remote start system off ebay. Had hi-fi buys install it. It cost me around $450 for everything, including install. Best decision I've made for the car, I absolutely love it. I also had them install a trunk-release solenoid, to enable the Viper system to open the trunk.
PS> Don't forget the DEI ignition module for your chipped keys. Sorry, you'll have to sacrifice one of those $80 keys to the alarm system forever.
Good luck man, hope something above was useful.
