knock sensor harness help

How in the hell do I separate the plastic harness from the knock sensor?

I think that I am the only person who has trouble figuring out the 18 different harnesses that nissan uses.

Thanks

Is the knock sensor still on the car?

What are you trying to do - that might give us some insight.

If you look at the knock sensor in the V of the engine, you'll see the harness leads out of the V and connects to one of the main engine harnesses. The short harness (known as the knock sensor harness) is only about 18" long (IIRC).

I have the sensor out of the engine. I can not get the actual knock sensor separated from the plastic clip & wire that runs to where-ever.

What do I have to squeeze/push/hammer on the plastic clip that connects the wire to the knock sensor.

I got ya... now I rememeber

There is a metal clip IIRC that you have to pry out, and then the sensor will seperate from the end of the harness.

FYI - the harness the sensor connects to, is itself a short piece, and can be unplugged from the main engine harness - there should just be a regular connector at that end (with the sort of clip you press to release).

Thank you it worked fine.

Spent 10 min. getting it out and 10 min. getting it back in. Problem is it took me 2 hours to get the clip undone.

I seriously would never have figured that out.

Thanks again.

Oh btw, be sure to undo, wirebrush/sand/clean the grounds on the plenum. That's where the KS grounds.

Hell, I broke my harness pulling it apart from the KS. The harness wire was so brittle that it needed replacing anyway!! $18 bucks
