Painted Trunk Max Logo

I stripped and painted my Max letters metallic graphite, much better than the flat black I painted them before. I also painted my surround for my guages with the graphite. Any other ideas?

Color looks excellent; alignment is off. Even though I have the one-piece MAXIMA (97-99) I still fear that if I removed my emblem to paint it I would not be able to line it up perfectly, so I'm consdering just masking it off really well and then painting it on the car. I have a black Max so a tiny bit of overspray would not stand out. What type of adhesive did you use to put the letters back on?

Also, you should paint the keyhole to match.

I like the keyhold idea.

I used weatherproof double stick foam tape from Home Depot, its the red stuff.

It was late last night when I put the letters back on, I knew they wouldn't be perfect, I should have waited until today in the day light.

It will leave a small ghost when you take it off. Just fit it right back in.

Yeah, that's what I was going to add. If you do it in daylight and look at the right angle, you can see exactly where it was. So maybe that's the best way.

I know double sided tape is pretty sticky, but might there be something stronger? Fr33way what did you use?

Looks good!

So you didn't like the black emblems? I'm just curious because that's the color I wanted to paint mine and I have a white Max too.

The first time I restuck them on I used silicon gasket maker, but it was hard to clean up any that squished out. It also came right off with a quick pull, and also came right off of the paint.

and its weather proof tape so its really sticky

my stock wheels are honeycombs, if I had 5 spoke se wheels I they would already be graphite.

it too bad I just bought 4 new 15" tires, so I'm not gonna get any 16" SE wheels any time soon.

Here is what they looked like in black, you can see the silicone squished out on the left of the I.

I used flat black, and it looked unfinished, like it was primer. I think glossy black would look good.

I didn't primer the letters first so the paint faked off as I was putting them back on. Now the graphite over the black will stick better. So get some primer. yeah really.

I've decided that when I paint my MAXIMA logo I'm going to leave it on the car and mask it very carefully. I think that will be simpler. Hey, how is the front Nissan grill logo affixed?

i used weatherproof foam double stick tape. hot glue would work better, but I don't have a hot glue gun.

Keep in mind any over spray will get all over your paint. Its hard enough to trim the double stick tape around the letters with them off of the car. You would have to cut each piece before you put it on the car, so you don't cut into the paint.

Once the letters come off for the first time, anything you use won't be as strong as the factory tape. This is a good thing, so you can repaint easier than the first time.

I'd just leave the MAXIMA on and take the emblem off, it looks less tacky that way, but to each their own, show us the pics of ur grille when ur done painting them...

That is painted, the flash was too bright so the logo & grill look like they are the same color. I'll take another one today in the daylight and post later.

What I meant was I'm just going to use regular painter's masking tape on around the letters while still on the trunk, put up some newspaper around the tape to prevent overspray (my car is black anyway, so a little accidental overspray would probably be unnoticeable), paint it, and peel off the tape. Then I'm done, no need to mess with glue or tape and positioning the emblem just right.
