Silverstars tend to burn out pretty fast. I had 1 go out in 1 month of use and another go out after 8 months.

They are also very pricey but I think the road visibility is awesome.

custom maxima is selling these in the GB section. i think $149 shipped.

one thing i have to point out is the cap over the bulb. its the 95/96 style which is a little tube and aims light to be used with the "cloudy" glass. the glass in the 95/96 is what does the aiming, through refraction. for the clear lens 97-99 they have a closed cap over the bulb to reduce glare and the multi parabola reflector (chrome housing) aims the light. these may have a glare to them so watch out. im not sure if these lights were properly RD.

NICE!!!! Congrats bro!!! The main thing I want know is if the lights can come apart so I can do the AE mod and put my OEM reflectors in instead of using that weird looking reflector they come with. Definetly post pics when your finished!

Got my headlights today, and I like what I'm seeing so far. I'll post pics tomorrow when I put them in. The glass is held on by clips like the oem's, and both assemblies came with 9004's in them. I can't tell what brand they are tho. For those interested in getting them they were shipped in one large box with two smaller ones inside each housing one assembly. Made in Taiwan with what looks like a model number NR-2007 (LH/RH).

Nah, there different. They have smooth glass lenses.

The lines you see are in the housing.

pics

Okay, I finally got these in... the corner lamps were a b*tch to come out. I actually busted the ball joint on the driverside cornerlamp; though once everything went back in it was still snug. Time for some pics.

Sorry about the image quality of this one.. using my friend's camera and I can't get a good (sharp) pic of this angle

Here's a good close-up

f550maranello2.. The housing is identical as far as I can tell.. they went in like a breeze.. The glass looks to be the same size and shape as well. The only thing I noticed was that the glass bulge where the clips go was sometimes off line. I think two clips were a bit off-center on each assembly, though they were still snug. But it looks like the lens itself has the same shape and dimensions. I couldn't tell for sure without removing the lens but after looking at the lens from all angles it looks like it's the same.

I'm going to go and realign the vertical angle now that it's dark out and take a quick spin to see how they perform. I'll post back.

Yes they do!!!!! I wanna do the AE mod to them and by some AE modded corners or maybe i'll leave it be since the lines on the corners seem to go well with the corner lights. Anyways congrats man they defenitely look hot!!! Looks like I found something good!

AE Mod is where the corners of the lights are blacked out. I'll find a link and post it.

Ah yeah I think i saw that in the how-to's makes the lights look like eyes right? I just went out and and found a dark road.. this is night an day compared to what I had.. though admittedly my '96 headlamps were a bit foggy so I'm sure that has something to do with it. More of the road gets lit up on both low and high beams for me... but the high beams, whoa! With my old lamps it was practically worthless for me to use the high beams; yeah they would light up a larger area but the light was too dim to be useful. These new ones on hi are great, like my old Legend with 4 bulbs. I did take pics but this kodak digicam is not picking up the light.. the pics look so much darker than they really are so I don't think it's worth it to post them.

Hah yeah that and new foglights Mine are in horrible shape, but that's what you expect when they've got 164k miles on 'em. Actually quick question.. are the foglights made of two pieces? My driver side one is either busted or is not aligned properly.. the main lens sticks out a bit farther than the piece on the side (crosses fingers that the foglights really are 2-piece)

Got mine today to, comapring them with my 97's and they look the same so far, but i wont know untill I pull the other lenses off and try and put the glass ones on my 97-99 housings.
But they are crystal clear, no lines or nubs on the lenses.
So no more sanding and polishing

These should look nice with my projector retro.

I agree there's some glare, but i don't think it's bad enough to bother oncoming drivers, and ultimately I can see better than my stock '96 setup which is most important to me. That was my only real gripe about the car when I got it and now that that's fixed I'm happy

that lense is a 95/96 style 100%. they will not fit a 97-99 housing.

I hate to say it, but your right. The glass lenses are not interchangeable with the 97-99's housings.
The 97-99 lens has a bit of a curve to it, the glass lenses are straight.
So now im left with the option of staying with the 97-99 projector retros or retroing the housings for the clear glass lenses.
Im thinking Im going to most likely retro the glass units.

Yup, since the headlights were new, I wanted to see in person if they were actually the same design as the 95-96's.
It doesnt really matter, the more I look at the lenses the more id like to see them with the projector setup so Im going to be working on getting them ready so that I can put my projector setup into them.
Hopefully in a week or so they will be complete.

Another idea is to just sell your current projector setup as-is and just make another retro... you might even make some $$ that way.

all 4th gen lights are interchangeable.

since these lights dont have a proper bulb shield, they will have a good amount of glare with any bulb used, especially HID conversion. for halogens it can be fixed with a 97-99 oem bulb shield.

Plastic>glass for output IMHO.

I'll post pics unless someone beats me to it.
I have the plastic.
