Fuel pump control module

Does anybody know where the fuel pump control module is cause my car just threw a code for it and I wanted to know if its part of the fuel pump itself or is it in a seperate location.

I don't think there is a seperate Fuel pump control module. Basically fuel delivery is controlled by the ECU, fuel pump relay and fuel pump itself.

I glanced through the FSM quickly, but didn't notice anything explicity for the P1220 code. Reset the ECU/CEL and see if the code comes back, perhaps it was a one-time glitch...

well ill try to locate the fuel pump relay and see if that needs replacing if not i guess ill have to replace my fuel pump. I did reset it and it did come back. It basically cuts fuel out under anything passed half throttle.

The fuel pump relay is near the fuse box in the car (IIRC).

I've never heard of this before - keep us posted.

Maybe it's the vacuum switch connected to the fuel pressure regulator? If there is one

I don't see anything on either of EC-271 or EC-274 regarding FPCM... 271 is about P0420 and 274 is about P0440 (both EVAP relateD).

I have two different versions of the FSM, and I checked both...

What is the heading or something I can search by..

The FPCM adjusts the voltage supplied to the fuel pump to control the amount of fuel flow

Very interesting. My 96 PDF version doesn't even have P1220 mentioned.. nor does my updated PDF for the entire A32 model.

I do have a picture in my EL module - showing the FPCM as a box that sits under the trunk lining on the driver side of the car. However, I wasn't able to find reference to it anywhere else in the FSM.

What's also strange, is that the FSM says both FPCM and the Fuel pump connect to B21... connect B21 in the harness layout runs only to the fuel pump... so my guess is the FPCM and fuel pump are one and the same... and the functionality has been integrated.

Time for a new fuel pump...

Well i changed the pump and im still getting the code. Is there a module but only for california models. On my scan tool that reads live data the map sensor seems to not be functioning cause the engine doesnt seem to sense load on the load calculator and the map sensor isnt rising. would this this then casue the FPCM not to function since it cant read manifold absolute pressure, which would be the reaason why the car cant be driven past half throttle and not recieve enough fuel, anyhting more and its just dogs its way up the rpm band past 3500.
