I love sleepers. If I was to heavily mod the car I would have it look at stock as possible so as not to give away what's under the hood and the suspension work. It's just an added benefit when performance parts also improve appearance (new springs, lighter wheels, etc). The only "look" I really need is on the face of the guy who's (insert overrated car here) just got OWNED by a four door family sedan.

Some of those are already on the way I dont autocross, so I dont really have a need for a brake upgrade like that, even though they def make a huge improvement.

To each his own, but to mod your car to impress someone else is lame. I hate meeting guys like that at meets/shows.

to do anything to impress someone else is lame in my book. do it because you want to, or because you enjoy it. Peer pressure is bull.

I dont think I saw anyone mention suspension, it's a combination of performance and aesthetics. Other than that you need to look at your application and your finances. I know a rich kid who spent $5000 modding his 2003 model Eclipse, and thats just a body kit, CF hood, taillights, rims, CAI, exhaust, thats not counting his engine swap to a 98 4 cyclinder. Maybe 180whp total. I have spent under $1000 and I put down more horses to the pavement in my 300-400lbs heavier i30. Morale of the story is the same tune everyone's been singing, performance before looks. Otherwise you risk embarassing defeats that jeopardize any props you get for style.

My opinion, and just my opinion, I would go with mods before looks, when I got my car, I spent about a grand in performance parts, the car is sexy even with its stock look, its true it looks good as is, it has a luxury look to it, clean, sporty, but family oriented. I like seeing the impression on peoples faces when they have a 2000 or so model car, get smoked by a 10yr old ride. Oh, and its even funnier, when you beat them by 5-8 cars, they feel stupid, they feel ripped off, cuz there $25,000 ride got beat by a $3,000 car with $1,000 worth of mods, and the car still looks good. **** some people think my car is new, like 5thgen new, its crazy. All go, before show.

Help

I'm realy apologize guys for this off topic but i'm anable to post new thread.
Can somebody post it for me please.
The problem is i'm just about to get 97gxe in very good shape the body is perfect but the milage 150k its auto i liked everything but one valve is clicking for a bit when i opened the oil cap it didnt make it louder so i'm thinking that was under the second valve cover witch is behind intake.(and i heard it only when car was just about normal rpm 650-700 when i slammed gas it's just goes off and it was about perfect)
The salesman said if i'm gonna change oil a couple of times and use premium gas for a while it will go off. And also he was gonna put some liquid in engine to reduce friction. I drove this car everything went just perfect transmission shifts smothly engine full of power but this realy insignificant clicks kind of bugging me. Actually i'm gonna take that car in tuesday('cause i'm already left some money for it to reserve)
So guys whats your decision did i make a mistake or if i'm gonna change the oil and stuff like that it'll realy help me.

So you're saying you don't like meeting the guys that have the 5 models standing in front of your camera lens?

Performance just gets you in trouble with the authorities at some point. You go fast, because you CAN!! You make your car look nice and no one knows it isn't quick until they race you and blow your doors off. And lastly, if you don't have performance mods, you're not likely to drive your car harder and save wear and tear from racing everyone who pulls up next to you ata traffic light. Even grandma in the Cadillac STS with the Northstar V8 which she would give you a good run for your money if she was feeling frisky..

i would keep the car mostly stock in appearance, but if i were to upgrade anything i would retrofit the headlights, get some clear bumper lights, possibly get a lip, a new grille and maybe some SE rims. with that aside the only performance mods i would mess with are the cold air intake/short ram intake and the y pipe, that is all.

Well then if you mod your car for pussy I feel sorry for you. I would hate to have all my work critiqued by someone that doesn't know what they are looking at. Chicks impressed with your skills shifting into D?

I started with suspention and performance. All I did for looks was slap a stillen lip on. It is off now because it broke in two when I barely hit a snowbank. Paint and bodykits are going to fall off or get ruined so stay suspention and performance.
