Cattman Catback Exhaust Install & Test.

I received my Cattman catback on Friday. First off, Brian is on top of his stuff. For those who have done business with him, you might already know that. He answers the phone and any questions you might have. Also, he does not try to twist your arm to buy anything. When I first got my exhaust, I was in love. The quality of the welds and the metals was great. The tip was a little too big for my taste, but once on the car it was great. I love it, it is not too big and not too small, they did a great job choosing the size on this. The entire exhaust system first in the trunk, I was able to get all 3 pieces in my trunk and I have a subbox and two amps. Here are some pics of the exhaust un-assembled.

I am EXTREMELY picky about everything. When I was searching for an exhaust, I wanted quiet. I am getting a bit older and have a family, I do not like the attention of being a "boy racer" any longer.
It was difficult, I could not find a good flowing, stock sounding and looking exhaust. I must admit all the prices of the higher end exhaust were scary. But, I know what a $300 catback from a muffler shop can be...here are the pics of the one off my car.

continued...

So it is now on. The sound is incredible, it is VERY close to stock with a little tone. When I am cruising around town there is no sound. When I drill the gas, I get all intake sound, with MILD exhaust. This is just what I wanted. Every car is a little different, so I used hose clamps around the hangers as suggested. I was able to get it lined up perfectly, just how I like it. I am now very happy. My mission of being stealthy is still on going, but this has REALLY helped.

Here are the final pics of it mounted.

Thanks again Brian. I apologize for being a pain in the ***, but I am extremely picky. You handled all my needs well, good job.

Would it be possible to see pictures of the hoseclamps? I'm having trouble visualizing what you're talking about.

Tightening hose clams AROUND the exhaust hanger to pull it tighter.

There is a pic in another thread around here somewhere.

I really need to take a picture of my hose clamps. I used that method and it worked very nice. Nice exhaust by the way.

Is this catback stock configuration? Meaning that the Cattman b-pipe bolts up with the factory muffler and vise-versa?

nexgenmax: Thanks for the compliment.

DarkScorpion: I will try and take some pics. Basically, the hose clamp goes around the outer diameter of the rubber hanger. It looks pretty nice too.

Black Maxima: Thank you.

njmodi: Thanks. I need to find a good polish for it. I do have some small scuffs on top, which are driving me crazy. When I was lining it up, it rubbed the bumper.

Anyone know what I should use to get them off?

4x4Max: Thank you. They are 18x8.5 PCW.

Nismo: I am not sure, maybe Brian will come on and answer that.

yup, that is exactly it...it is like having adjustable exhaust hangers. I am waiting for the people to hop in and say it effects the hangers or something stupid.

Do you also have a y-pipe on your car. Either Stillen or Catman...I have a Stillen on mine and am looking for a nice exhaust like yours. I am also concerned with the noise. If you do have a y-pipe the sound is still close to stock? Great pics by the way...set up looks awesom.

Allow me to be the one to say something, but it's definitely not stupid. You are going to notice that your exhaust hangers are going to wear out alot quicker than normal by doing this. I was doing it for years, so it's nothing new. By you saying what you said, it only tells me that someone has already warned you about the effects of your "mod".

I have the cattman catback and absolutely love it as well. When I first installed the exhaust with the stock hangers, nothing lined up properly. I figured it was because the hangers had over 120,000 miles on them. I bought 6 of the nismo solid exhaust hangers from Courtesy Nissan and put them on. When installing them, I loosened (NOT removed completely) all the exhaust bolts from the cat back. I then put on all the hangers and finally, aligned the exhaust where I wanted it in the opening and one by one, tightened up the bolts. The exhaust fits perfectly now, with no bumping the frame where it goes over the rear axle.

They are a little pricey but, here's the link: Exhaust Hangers

It is definately not stupid. But, exhaust hangers are pretty cheap and easy. If I had to replace them in 2 years? it would not be a problem. One way to look at it is, I bet they last longer than tires.

Why get rid of the red/clears??
They give a very clean, factory look to the car in my opinion...
What are you plans with the car?? "better mods"........sounds good to me :-D

orange corners +1 haha. You sound exactly like me when picking out products. It has to be jsut right, and (even though i'm not getting one on my car because its automatic) when i heard the cattman i was really impressed. The ONLY exhaust i would get for my maxima.

No, it looks too much like a honda civics tails. I think the orange will give it contrast and the orange is stock. My plans are still the same, a sleeper. The Nissan Maxima is a sleeper, it always has been. If someone sees it all riced out, they will think it is modified. If it is near stock, drop, rims, etc...they are less likely to think anything of it. Plus, it gives is a classy look. Also, this car has always had the cheapest performance mods, so I am slowly replacing them with better parts. Like the ****ty cat-back vs. the high quality Cattman piece.

u think for all the money u pay for it the resonator would extend all the way to the cat eliminating the lil 5" section of pipe that has the 02 sensor
