New Spark plugs... problem

I just changed my spark plugs, I got some Bosch Platinums. They didn't have any NKG's in stock. The guy from Auto Zone said they are pre-gapped, but now my car shutters once every few seconds at idle in gear, and a couple of times a minute while at idle in park.

Should I pull them out and check the gap? What should the gap be?

Or should I just go get some NKG Platinums? I don't care about wasting $10 or $20 if I have to trash the Bosch plugs.

Check the gap and make sure all the coils are plugged in tightly. Is there a CEL?

I had heard once that the Bosch sparkplugs were bad for the Maxima, and was told by many others that the only plug to put into our cars was the NGK.

Go get them and be done with it.

I've been getting increasingly crappy milage lately, and im guessing replacing the spark plugs would help.

Is this a tough job? and is there a tutorial anywhere on how to do this?

Also, anyone know a good place to buy them?

thanks in advance.

NGK coppers from autozone, NGK platinums from Dave Burnette (look in FAQ sticky for his #).

Tutorial:
1. remove coils
2. remove plugs
3. replace plugs - torque to 15-20ft-lbs
4. replace coils

More details in the stickies (surprise surprise) :

Autozone didn't have the NGK's so I got the bosch crap.

It took me 5 different stores to find the NGK's and they didn't even have the platinums.

I'll let you know what happens in 30min.

BMW's use Bosch. We use NGK. I'm running NGK coppers. 2 dollars each. I gap them myself to my own specs.

I got the bosch platniums from autozone also. My car started to idle rough at around 500 when in gear. When its in park its great you wouldnt even know its running. Acutally the car drops to idle when im coasting, but I found I can prevent this if I have O/D off. (this only occurs at speeds below 40) Could this be crappy plugs? I didnt check the gap I jus put them in by the way.

Ok, I've got my NGK's in and it runs great! And I also check to see if the Bosch plugs were gapped right, and they were pretty close.

So its NGK only!!!!

Thanks for your help everybody!

So now you've passed the first step of Maximas 101... you are offically in charge of all spark plug related threads. Please educate the other whoring your thread and asking which NGKs to use.

I recently replaced my plugs and couldn't find NGK anywhere so I put the Bosch platinums in. There seems to be a conspiracy to sell Champions which I wouldn't use even in a lawnmower engine.
The car runs great, better than with the old NGK plats that I took out. No problem.

I just bought some NGK laser platinums from an Autozone, I called ahead and they ordered them for me. I called at 8pm and I could pick them up the next day at noon. I think they were $7-8 a plug, it was either Autozone or Advance Auto Parts... they are all the same to me.

Stay with platinum plugs. Iridium are better suited for boosted applications.

I'd rather have Iridium in the bank, not in my engine.

I would switch the first chance I got. I have read many posts with issues related to plugs that were not NGK (Bosch).

If you can find Denso platinums they work well to. They aren't as expensive as the NGKs.

If cost is an issue, NGK coppers are not expensive either. Change out interval is half.
