someone tried to steal my max last nite

last nite i parked my car on alawai blvd in waikiki, & someone tried to steal it. they cut the alarm, popped out the pass. dr lock & trunk lock, busted my stereo in an attempt to remove it, stole my battery, & tore up the ignition console. now i'm out another grand or more (i only have liability). thanks ice-heads. Oahu sucks.

a shop told me just the whole lock set is $550, & that the total should be under $1k. has this happened to anyone else, & how much did it cost (locks/ignition/labor)?

yeah, they were total idiots. if they just put the battery back in, they could've drove off--at least that's what the tow-truck driver said.

That really sucks man, they got my car this past september, broke the passenger side window, busted out the ignition and they were gone. luckily they found my car (in newark for you jersey people) and they didn't really mess it up too bad, just the above stuff plus all my personal stuff inside my car and someone siphoned my gas. the whole ignition ended up being around 200-300 bucks installed, i don't know about the door locks since they didn't bust mine

P.S. those bastards stole one (1!!!!) of my rims that i had in my trunk to get the lip fixed it was a 18" konig monsoon(they don't make them anymore) that sucks so hard. anyway, good luck

Do you have any junkyards around? When my last car (a honda prelude) was stolen, I got the replacement parts there for $200 and installed them myself.

no mods at all, just a $140 pioneer mp3 h/u. This island has about 1 million cars, so it's tough to find them once their stolen. we are #3 or so for stolen vehicles in the US! thanks for the tip on junkyards.

that's crazy because jersey and new york should be #1 and #2. maybe they strip the cars down and throw them off a cliff or something.

but hey look on the bright side, your car is still your car.

I had my smoked cefiros ripped right off of my car in the dead of night. They managed to rip up all the HID wiring (at least they left the ballasts intact) they broke my passenger window and stole my SAFC and ripped the armrest somehow. I had to put my original headlights on and its all held together with zip ties. It all happened in front of my house; i was parked just a little further out on the street then usual. Broke my heart and now i dont care for modding much anymore.

Sorry to hear about your incident...but I'm so happy that I live in the middle of nowhere. Plus...we park our cars (I have a long driveway) infront of our german shepherd...so anyone who would think of trying to jack one of the cars better have a spare set of legs or butt cheaks...

Actually I know what he's talking about, I just took a 3-week class in the Hawaiian islands (it kicked @ss), and we spent a few days on Oahu, and the crime there is pretty bad. We had four vans for the class and after about 2 days there 2 of the vans got broken into in broad daylight and everything in the vans were GONE.

So I know what you're talking about man, it always sucks getting your sh*t broken into.
