found this out on my i30 today, kinda cool

so today when i went to go start my car, my abs light stayed on, parking brake light stayed on, and the battery light went on. Obviously i knew it was the battery. I knew that my positive battery terminal had a lot of corrosion on it from my box. I pulled out the box for need of extra room and i just left the power wire there, i taped the other end with eletrical tape so it wouldn't start a fire in the trunk. But i was kinda lazy n didn't disconnect it from the battery. So i opened my hood n took off the power wire to the box n cleaned off all the corrosion. Drove around to let the battery recharge. While driving around, my radio wasn't working. No sound coming out from the speakers at all, it tried to turn off and on but all it had was a lil click click noise. I stopped at a red light n the battery, abs, n parking brake light all went off. the battery re-charged a lil. Bam, the speakers turned on and out came sound. Stepped on the gas, all the lights came back on, n poof, the speakers shut off. i was like oh cool, guess nissan did a good job since it wants to save me battery. just wanted to share my lil cool experience.

P.S. yes i permantely disconnected the power wire from the battery.

Your alternator is calling for help, and your battery is hurting.
The voltage level in your car is low, thats why devices are turning on and off by themselves.

Funny...I ran into this myself last weekend. All the same symptoms...it's Alternator. Have it looked at (or do it yourself)...take a look at the belts at the same time!

sorry guys, i dunno if you all read this. But it was due to corrosion on the battery terminal. The alternator is fine. The lights are not there anymore since i wiped off all the corrosion. and there was a lot of corrosion. The alternator cant be dieing because otherwise it wouldn't recharge the battery that fast. n also, i know why it did it, i was just suprised that it was able to recognize the battery was short on juice n decided to save me every lil bit of voltage

I get what you mean now. I think we all thought you wipped off the corrosion on the battery before you went for the drive, and while on the drive it kept dieing, signaling us saying the alternator is dieing. I THINK. That is just what I think every one is trying to say.
