Odd dealer statement on PCV valve replacement

went in Nissan dealer to buy a PCV valve. Car has 65k miles.
They said they do not stock them- they just clean it a little with Brake cleaner.
They cost $9.95 and he said they could order one but said it was unnecessary.

I buy them at a parts store for under $5. Why bother cleaning one when they are so cheap?

edwardh1 - it's the truth. Most local dealers don't have them instock. The reason being is that they hardly ever fail on our cars (and perhaps other Nissans that share the same part).

I usually order a couple online with my oil filters, etc. I change mine out every 30k - which is likely overkill.

You can just pick up one from Autozone, etc. for under 5 bucks, as Ridge Runner suggested.

I'd probably keep using the old one - the Auto zone one might be made in china and not fit/work (tho some AZ stuff esp their hoses are great)

I took the two bolts off the metal piece/bracket and it still lookstought to get it off
