Y-Pipe Question...

Hey guys...I'm looking to get a Y-pipe for my max and I've been looking around but there are quite a few with wide price ranges...

I was wondering if I you guys would let me know which one has worked out best for you. The Cattman Stainless Steel Y costs $345 from Redlinemax.com, the Warpspeed cost(???), but there's a thread about how they suk so I won't be goin there..., the Stillen Y costs $347, I don't even know where they sell budget Y's....also there is the RedlineMax Stainless Steel Y for $275 and their aluminized steel Y for only $175!!! What's the difference??? Cuz if there isn't, why not buy the cheapest one???

Plz guys...gimme some feedback...

i can't sleep, so i'll help you out a bit.

Basically, a y-pipe is a y-pipe. The only thing to worry about is the flex section. It can be susceptible (sp?) to holes and cause leaks. They don't always go bad, but if something is wrong with your y-pipe, that is usually it. Decide if you want stainless or aluminized. Being in Georgia, the weather probably isn't too harsh, so you could get by with aluminized if you had to, but i would recommend stainless just to save the headaches down the road. The best bang for the buck, IMO, is the Budget SS y-pipe (found here:www.lssexhaust.com It is around $200 or something like that, IIRC. There have been very few complaints about them and fit very well.

Yea, the weather here isn't harsh at all...I could probably get by with the aluminum but I'll just take the safe route by going SS. It's only a $50 difference compared to aluminum...Thanks alot!!!

Don't get the Y Pipe. Like NmexMAX said, it's discontinued because it gave absolutely no gains. There's a new one out called Z Pipe and it's about the half the price of the current market ones and should give about 40~45whp. Just search for Z Pipe on ebay.

Z-pipe...it doesn't look like it's made for the maxima nor does it look like it'll fit...at least without some serious modifications. well..thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and ordered the SS budget y pipe...Also, it doesn't make sense that the y-pipe doesn't give any gains at all...people wouldn't be modding it if it didn't...wouldn't make any sense.

I have had a Cattman Y pipe for 2 years with no problems at all. For the money the y pipe is the best gain for the money.

Do you have a haynes or FSM? If so, use it... search the stickys, donate, go a few pages back... Do A LOT of research.

Hayes will tell you.. or if you know enough about cars, you may even be able to look and see.. or do research...

your new.. just like all newbies... you need to learn.. easy simple things you can find out buy researching... you will learn that newbies asking questions that have been answered hundreds of times do not fly well...

Do like all of us have.. and read the stickies, get a haynes or a chiltons, or FSM... they are your best friends.. search the forums, and last resort.. ask... but be prepaired to get flamed buy people that have done there homework... people that dont like the idea that people want things handed to them while every one else had to learn on there own..

that is why we have stickies, people learned on there own and desided to bring the knowladge to the masses..

so please... before you try upping your post count.. just so you can ask silly questions that you can find out on your own.... do your home work...

I read through the FAQ and only thing listed for the exhuast was the Y-pipe and B-pipe. I didn't ask you how to do it. I was asking if it's possible and how hard is to do it because I don't know how much to charge him. I've done motor swaps and tranny swaps if you still want to consider me as a noob.

I asked my friend who's on this forum and he said that the "search" button didn't work for past 2-3 years he was on this forum. so... I'm running out of ideas here...

Step one:
Open up www.google.com

Step two:
Type headers :forums.maxima.org

maybe i am missing something but.... IMHO...
why even bother with headers? from what is said in the STICKIES, the most would be a 3-5 hp gain... and from what i read its about 6 hours of work.. .maybe i am wrong about that.. as some people are better at it than others

you can buy Stone Racing headers, but for $400 for only 3-5 hp.. spend the money on buying a haynes , Donating to the ord so you can search and then other mods
