IS there a particular grounding cable that provides the greatest results. I am looking to install in differing installments.

 

You want to start with making a clean ground between the negative bettery terminal and the car frame -- there is already a grounding strap located there, but replacing it with a thicker, better copper wire will help. From there, your next connection should be to the engine block.
