I got ahold of 4 of the 9 spoke millenia rims and I think i read on here that some modification is needed to fit it in the rears. So, what do i have to do?

Make sure you factor this in. Wheels that fit on a Maxima have to have a bolt pattern of 5 x 114.3 or 5 x 4.5 (in inches) with between a 35-40mm offset. For offsets greater than 40, spacers and longer lugs can be used to prevent the rim from rubbing on the suspension arms or inner wheel well with wide wheels. Hope this helps you out.

I thought it was something about the hubsize that needed to be dremmeled out or something? The Maxima's is 66.1mm but I'm too lazy to go downstairs and measure my Millenia's.

i've got probe gt 16" swirlies wheels

to fit them on my "late" 92 gxe, i had to make special hub caps (to hide the bearings) in the rear, but the hubsize was a close fit....

i will try 1 on my new 96 se next weekend...

probe/626/mx6/929 wheels have almost the same "requirement", except maybe the offset

Fronts fit fine but rears hit the dust shield over the hub. The rear wheel or the dust sheilds needs to be milled down.

Millenia rims are good to use in the front fot the track, but I wouldn't want to drive on them every day. They are only 6" wide and have a terrible offset for a maxima. They look really goofy

What if i get some spacers? Will it look decent then? If so what size spacers should I get?

You would need at least 10mm spacer but probably more like 15mm spacers but with that wide of spacer you will also need longer studs. There is only one company that I know of that makes hub centric spacers and that is H&R and you can expect to pay $100 and axel for them. I do believe that they come with longer studs though. But IMO it will still look kinda goofy and you will be limited on tire sizes because of the 6" rim width. But they are very light and if you not big into looks then go for it. Do keep in mind that rear wheel weight is not near as significant as front wheel weight.

Wait...I just realized that the tires on the millenia rims are 205/65/15...how is it 205 if its only 6 inches? Are the millenia rims that everyone talks about 9 spoke? Ill post pics tomorow to see if I have the correct ones.

You can fit a 215 on a 6" rim but it looks sortof dumb (as if 6" rims don't look dumb enough as-is).

Yes it's the 9 spoke rim most people talk about, though the 11 spoke is only half a pound or so heavier.

My advice is definately do not put them on there for daily driving, they are an ugly rim design, and a poorly suited size for the maxima. It just makes the car look ridiculous. Put em on the front for racing if you want, but I wouldn't do any more than that.

yeah...they do look pretty ugly.

How much of a difference does a lighter rim make? I have read a lot about the theory behind it but I think I cam across a thread saying that it millenia rims in the front didnt make a difference in the quarter mile.

I gained about a consistent tenth of a second and almost 1mph going from pretty light 37lb 17" (Koseis and T1-S tires) combo to a very light 30lb combo 15" (Millenias and some crappy tires).

So 7 pounds made a .1 second difference.

does anyone know how much do stock saw blades weigh with an average tire?

6"-8" rims so I'd say you're ok doing anthing in a straight line.

Here's a pix of mine - BFGs 225/50/15s next to 23/8/5/15 M&Hs I think the Milennia/BFG combo is 32lb each.

And something even lighter: 12" Hoosiers on 10"/15 M/T ET Drags - 30 lbs.

Of course they stick out a bit:

Just planning ahead - I had the front end tweaked to keep the slicks level..

I had run out of traction last season - the 15/8.5/15 M&Hs on 10" wheels weren't doing it, so I tracked down some 10" M/T ETs and mounted those 12" radial Hoosiers on them. Obviously I blew the engine before I got to try them, but now that I'm building a cammed 3.5, I might really need them.

On my first and last pass attempt this year, launching on a 75-shot, the M&Hs lit up big-time and spun until I hit second gear, then I sprayed the second 75-shot, went uber-lean and melted #4's piston.

Last season, I was staging at KCIR for another low-13-sec pass, rolled past a group of street guys with Mustangs, and one guy looked down at the slicks on the front and said "that's just wrong". Heh.

no - because when I click it, it takes me to a login screen instead of a picture...

I still can't understand how you're having that severe of traction problems launching on a 75 shot though. it just doesn't make sense to me. I hope the wider tires work out for you and solve the problem.

My guess:

BFG DR II - I have a pair, 255/50/16s, and the tread looks like that.

Look here at Tirerack.com:

I launch with a 2800-rpm torque converter and 75-shot engaged immediately, and usually roll into the second 75-shot while still in first gear - and this is a VLSD tranny. Last time out I also had the custom OBX headers installed.

Last season, with low tire pressures, the M&Hs wrapped around the rims and the car would not track straight. With 20psi, they spun - a lot. Hence the search for wider slicks. I had tried my two sets of BFG DRs, but they were useless for a launch, and could be spun anywhere on the track. ETs dropped into the 14s.

Spraying a cammed 3.5 should be even more exciting.

Oops - apologies to the OP - we kinda drifted off topic here....

They're OK for NA cars, mild mods, MEVI and such, but they won't hold for me at the strip. If you're in the low 14's they would still work, I feel.

They are good for hunting noobs on the street, however. They are a tough tire, generally good for 5K miles on the streets and highways. Also great for personal test-and-tune sessions on highway on-ramps.

BFG makes great tires. I have several sets of street and track BFGs 'cause I like 'em...

20psi in your slicks? That could be your problem right there. Why so much pressure? You're leaving a lot on the table running that much...
