Headlight bulb question

I purchased my car a little while ago and the previous owner apparently installed some cool blue bulbs. Im not sure what kind they were, and to be honest its too late to check because they burnt out and I threw them out. I ended up purchashing regular bulbs because although the blue bulbs looked niced, they had terrible range and were useless in the rain and snow. Oh, and lets not forget about the brightes, they were basically useless.

I was wondering if there are any bluish bulbs that have a similar range as stock bulbs and actually last as long as stock bulbs. It seems that they all burn out in a few months, and thats just a waste of money. Please include the price of the bulbs, thanks!

blue bulbs = waste of money and lower light output .. and

For good light ouput, with the stock 9004 housing, get Sylvania Xtravisions, sold as 9004XV at Pepboys - 10 bucks a bulb.

No such thing as a blue bulb that gives out stock output, hands down. HID's are an exception.

That was a good read. Basically, the blue bulbs are not as bright because the coating deflects some of the light from going where it needs to go, which in our case is straight ahead. How about producing a clear bulb that shines blue light? I know the article says its illegal to have anything but a white light but will the cop really know or care? Blue light vs White light with a blue coating, they probably wont know the difference.

Is it posssible to buy these kind of "blue" lights?

P.S. I hate every car that has HID kits, they are superflously bright and blind oncoming traffic.

There was another good link I have it somewhere, that actually compared the brightness of the greatly apraised PIAA bulbs vs standard oem replacements and it turned out oem's were 15% bighter and 80% cheaper.

I really like the look of blue headlights with adjacent orange corner lights, and right now I have neither, LOL.
