Thoughts on this set up......

Ok so i dont have many tools or experince so i went to Les Schwab to see what they had and heres what i got quotes on....

first was springs.. They had the Pro kit which i belive is ebiach (sp?) that lowerd the front 1.5" and rear 1.3" and for the materials and labor with tax came out to $568.20

Good? bad? look else where?

Second i got some quotes on tires....
The one I will probley get will be Toyo proxes 4 119.99 a peice with install and balance came out to 628.32

they also had proxes TPT for everything came to 698.49
also quoted me for Zexius xi-326 came out to 566.77

Whats your take on this? i know i can do it cheaper but time and things to do the job dont exist. Thanks for the help...

well i asked him what it came with and he said its the pro kit.. i dont think he knew what he was talking about because when i looked up what it was on the net all i found were springs called pro kit. so i would prolly say no.. but not 100% sure.

so youre pairing stock struts w/ the eibachs? generally this is not a great idea but it definitely is possible. I ran progress springs on stock struts for several months w/out any problems. My friend has been running CUT Sprints on stock struts for about 2 years now w/ no problems. Still I would buy adjustable struts just bc they are superior. IMO 568 is waaaaay to much for just adding springs to stock struts but thus is labor charge on cars. The Eibachs are great springs but i would consider shopping around and/or getting Illuminas to pair them with.

What struts do u recommend? I know running the spring with stock shocks isnt the best idea but i cant afford to drop down almost 1000 for shocks.....

You can do all this with new struts and springs for about 600 depending on the price you find stuff but that doing it yourself

But tokico illuminas are the best run about 408

about 200 dollars more, you can get coilovers for about 800 shipped on the group deal forum.

If youre going to spend the extra money on struts I would definitely buy adjustable ones - specifically Tokico Illuminas (arguably the best you can buy).

You can usually find them for about 400-450. I would then post some in the regional forums and see if any of the Org members near you would do this for you at a cheaper rate. Its not very difficult, just time consuming.

you should definitely consider doing the install yourself. all you need are some sockets, breaker bar, spring compressor (rent for free from local shop), that's about it. as far as experience, i did mine with no previous experience and it probably took longer than it should have but it's definitely doable. or like others said, see if someone local can do it for you or hep you out for an agreed ammount which would be much less than some shop would charge.

however, i think you need to analyze what you want out of the suspension mod. it's interesting that you went with Eibach. typically these are chosen for the performance they give and not for their drop. yet with stock struts, you will not feel nearly the improvement in handling that the Eibachs have the potential of. if you want handling, Eibachs with Illuminas will more than satisfy. if you want looks, go with Teins (S-Tech) and KYB-AGX, or even KYB GR-2 struts.

it's good that you talked to people on here first before gettin that work done at some shop. if you're not sure exactly what you're doin, gettin some advice on here is definitely worth it as you can save major $$$ and also learn more.

good luck with the install!

i think your prices were extreme.. unless it came with aligment or struts at least... even with alignment its still too high...

also illuminas are ur best route.. kybs are horrific... too stiff...

if any orgers want dicounted install prices in NYC let me know i can def hook you up with my shop and get good deals... so you wount have to get stiffed liek this..

Why would you EVER pay prices like that....
Suspension on this car is EASY... save lots of money buy actually shopping around and doing the work yourself.
If you want a ride that won't throw you around and will handle the best, you must get struts with any lowering spring... specially the eibachs!(some of the stiffest on the market)....
If you were seriously about to spend that much money to get just springs installed, save a little more and get coilovers (blow spring/strut suspension out of the water)

don't cheap out on anything, but also don't let yourself get taken for a bunch of money. Check around other places

It took another orger and I 2.5 hours to change my springs. $590 - $260 for springs = $330. $330 / 2.5hrs = you getting ed.

Eibach Pro-Kit springs are good. But, as has been said, they don't even cost $250 by themselves, so shop around. You should DEFINITELY get new shocks with them -- KYB AGX at minimum, Tokico Illumina ideally (or Koni Yellow if you have tons of money). Anything else (including stock) might leave you with a harsh ride -- and blown struts before you can blink.

The Toyo Proxes 4 is a very very good tire. It has an excellent reputation. The TPT definitely does not. The Zexius is a new tire, and I haven't heard anything about it yet, but Falken is usually pretty darn good. So of the four, I'd say go with the Proxes if you want performance, or the Zexius if you need to save money.
