Ecu Chip Upgrade

I only just remembered after reading the other thread on ECU's that I have a custom chip in my car. Well, i think i do anyways. I bought the vehicle off craigslist and in the ad it said the car had a chip and was really fast. How do I tell what kind of chip i have? Where do they install the aftermarket ecu's? Are custom chips just for removing the rev limiter and speed limiter or do they do more?

You've got to open up the ECU, which is down by the floor, behind the radio. Somehow I doubt you have one however.

leave it, don't even try buying a new one! all of them do nothing unless you get a sisterboard put into your max; or even a piggyback system, otherwise don't worry about it

I should clarify, when I posted above I was talking about JWT and TS "chips" (actually daughterboards). Any brand other than that doesn't even warrant mentioning.

TS ECU's usually have their decal sticker plastered on the ECU top. So you could try taking a quick peek. Somehow i doubt that they would have kept a TS or JWT ECU on there. If they even do have a chip, its probably one of those ebay resistor thingies.
