Well I haven't scraped it once, although I'm very careful and don't drive as much as most of you....still bothers me a lot, though!

The Greddy can't rotate because of the way it's attached to the cat. Very little play. You can't just force the catback to tuck up; it would twist the cat which would twist the Y-pipe which would put pressure on the exhaust manifold. That's why I was asking about some kind of flange mod. All it would take is the flange on the front of the Greddy being rotated 10 or 20 degrees.

thats what i kept thinking, it doesnt sound "nice" to just push the exhaust up and twist everything around.
i feel weird about taking my 500 dollar exhaust to a shop to be cut though.

Yeah, especially since it's hard to find a shop that will work with stainless steel and preserve the mandrel bends on the Greddy!

Based on what is being posted...I'm about to take my new Greddy SP2 to a shop to have it installed on my '97, should I be asking for anything special on installation (I can do the hoseclamp thing...)? Much easier for them to do adjustments when it is on the rack.

Thanks!

2 14mm bolts on the muffler to b-pipe, 3 rubber hangers.

If the car has ever seen a significant amount of road salt, I would say take it to the shop because those bolts are often so rusted that the heads will simply shear off. Then you'll have to get them torched anyway. If not, do it yourself, it shouldn't be too bad. But exhaust work doesn't usually cost that much anyway.

i got my budget b pipe installed recently. it hangs low but i don't think it is as low as everyone elses. I used some hose clamps to make it sit a bit higher. I would suggest that if you do live in a city where it snows and salt is used, take it to a shop and get the exhuast installed. I did mine at a buddy's shop for free but we had to heat up those cat bolts a lot. One of them actually snaped off. I would just take it to a shop just to be safe or at least pay a shop to take those cat bolts off or replace them i think midas was charging $20-40 for that

Midas threw it on for $50, my cat bolts were nasty (car came from Wisc). No rattles or clangs, sounds mean. The tip is a little left of center though, so I am thinking of applying the hose clamp mod to the right side (facing rear) hanger to pull it up slightly and center the tip.

The Midas guy pulled all the shop monkeys over to look at the installed Greddy, looks sweet with all the shiny SS

actually my exhaust does not sit at an angle, it was probably just the pictures that i took. and its not that hard to center it you just have to use both hoseclamps to adjust it. oh and i have driven it for about 2 weeks now and it has not burned the bumper yet. i think i just depends on how close you mount it to the bumper, mine is a few millimeters away from it which is perfect for looks and for not burning it. and im getting used to the sound, but i think i need to get headers or something, i want more of a rumble, gonna see what i can do to get some cattmans.

are you asking me that. well if you are, i had it done by my uncle who specializes in body work, and also had it repainted because some girl hit me in a parking lot. so to repaint alone was about sub-$1000 for both sides, front bumper, rear bumper. the trunk hood and roof werent painted but the car blended perfectly, and in light the paint has a little red in it which is real pretty.
