GReddy SP2 w/hoseclamp mod on a lakeshore blue max

well i finally got my SP2 and got it installed and i took the time to adjust the height and centered it with the hoseclamp mod. it looks beautiful, the only thing is its too quiet, i guess i expected it to be a little louder, but its all good. oh and another thing isnt there supposed to be an O2 sensor on a stock Cali-Spec pipe, well mine was on the cat, dont matter i got it welded shut. heres the pics.

Love how it looks!!! Can you take pictures of the hose clamp thing, I'm planning on buying it too, so I won't burn my bumper with the SP2.

Does the SP2 run any hotter than any other exhaust?

I have a clone-Q snugged with the hose clamp and I have never had a problem with heat after extended periods of driving.

the sp2 will produce a burning smell after first install. I've seen bumpers "flare" up due to the heat of the exhaust. Be careful

my longest trip on my max was about 550 miles. the sp2 sounds the loudest in the 2k-3k rpm range with my foot slightly on the gas and for me that is in 6th gear. when i downshift to 5th gear and my revs step out of the 3k i no longer hear the exhaust. i would drive in 5th gear but gas mileage would suck but i have no problem driving in 6th gear and listening to the sp2. it is not loud or annoying and with the radio on i can barely hear it.

I would be very cautious of burning your back bumper. I don't see what was wrong with the way it sits...nor am I going to go back and look closely either. Sorry, it's 2am.

basically, the hoseclamp wraps around the rubber hanger, and then by tighting it it will raise up the tip.

i raised it up too high before and burne a bit of my rear bumper, but other than that it looks awesome.

actually i have sp2 for about 1.5 year already w/ wsp y-pipe (2.5 years). it sounds very nice and deep...especially when it warms up.

but it's nothing compare to my tC with custom s-pipe (no resonator), TRD exhaust w/ modified magnaflow ss tip. oh well... that's just the difference between inline4 vs. V6.

General idea of the hoseclamp "mod":

It effectively tightens the rubber hanger and makes the rear section move around less.

Btw, IMO, the before pictures are how its supposed to sit. The after pictures may look better to some because its flush with the bumper, but it will melt the bumper, as people have already said, and will also be rattling as it makes contact with the bumper when you go over bumps, even little bumps. I had a GReddy EVO on my 5.5 which fit "too well" and it was flush with the bumper, so I've been through it all before.

did you get a rattling noise behind your seat when your car was cold? My greddy sp2 rattles when my car is cold, its annoying, and then when i go over pot holes i hear it hiting.

My tip is pretty close to the bumper and it has never burnt yet. I think as long as it's not touching it should be fine.

I don't like how the original poster's muffler sits at an angle after the hoseclamp mod... I like the height of mine but the tip isn't quite centered.

And I need to get an exhaust shop to fix how damn low the B sits, unless anyone has any ideas. The problem seems to be the flange of the the catback where it meets the cat has the wrong angle, that's all.

That seems how all the GReddy b-pipes are. Do the other (courtesy, budget, stillen) b-pipes do this as well?

My budget b-pipe is just like that. I just scraped it on Saturday pretty badly on a speed bump.

Yeah that has kept me from swapping mine out. The only thing that bother me is the AWFUL noise but it would be irritating if I was dragging an aftermarket part all over the ground.
