sluggish

for the past week or so my max has been running really really sluggish... and feels like a loss of power. I use to be able to do 60mph at about 2100 rmp, now im lucky if i could do it at 2600. what could be wrong? even on take offs my car is really really sluggish. What could i do to fix this? And i have no codes thanks in advance.

Guys i really need your help. For some reason i can't post my own thread
I've got some problem with my car, 156k on it. It runs very good, but when engine works i can hear some kind of "click click click" and it comes from the second valve cover witch is behind intake mainfold and i can hear it mostly from the left side (where is the belts)
One more thing, when the car is cold i hear these clicks very slightly because rpms about 1500 and it's kinda mixing with the all other noises, but when car warms up rpms about 600 and engine bay is more soundless those damn clicks comes out more painfull for my ears. I don't think that is injectors because it sounds more like metal. And all the times it's exactly the same spot where it comes from. For me it seems like one wrong valve adjusment. I didn't change the oil after a previous owner yet and it's still running on regular gas witch is left in tank.
I'm still hope if i'll do the oil change and premium gas it'll solve the problem.
Help me please any advise maybe someone expiriensed this problem.
Thank you.
AND Finally i RECORDED THAT SOUND

umm..well i personally did not do a compression test ever but a friend of mine did one on his prelude. He went to sears and bought a decent compression testor (like somewhat bit over 100 bucks), followed instructions on service manuel how to test it, did it and then returned the instrument. Results for his car was one cylinder was low but his car still ran like a champ tho....

Do a search on google i know i saw a thread on how to test compression on max.org few weeks ago.

type something like "compression test maxima.org" in google.

yeah...ive got a 95 auto...i think it may be my transmission. its sluggish, and then it shifts out of gear sometimes and can be scary at times. i will pull into a parking space or pull up to a stop sign, and it jumps out of gear and doesnt do anything. i give it some gas, and still nothing happens. so i have to shift it in neutral and then back to drive and then it works fine. but shifting through gears is pretty rough, not smooth. i have CEL light codes for knock sensor which i thought about replacing, would that have anything to do with it?

Knock sensor makes your timing retard, and yeah it makes it sluggish. But sounds like your transmission needs some work.
right after I got my tranny flushed it acted weird for a while, but it works fine now.

Im not a mechanic, my advise would be have some one check it out. Either a local .org member that knows what they are doing, or a mechanic you trust.
Edit: my advise would be save up for a 5 speed, either a swap or a new car, less trouble with 5spds, more power to the ground, good for just about everything but heavy traffic driving, which sucks anyway. And my auto tends to suck when I drive in heavy traffic, I think it over heats or something.

I have the same problem with loss of power but my transmission is fine though.I think it is time for new spark plugs and cleaning the fuel injectors.
