VQ not bad at all!!! wish i got it sooner.

Finally got my new max. This time i did the right the right thing and got a 5spd. This is the one i got and the car is pretty clean and rides very nice although since its dropped the ride quality is kinda rough but i can live with it. Heres the link for the car
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=453572

Anyway the car has lots of low end power but up top i think my VE puts up a fight. Right now i am looking to go with the 00vi (in a couple of months until i do more research) hopefully it will improve. Before i forget, I just moved to Mass and i wanted to know if i put a y pipe( the car already has a catback exhaust on it, unknown brand) will it affect my emmisions. But atleast i know what the fuss is all abou the VQ is pretty damn good. Thanks .

Congratulations! I read somewhere that if you leave your car running for a while, you should be able to pass emissions with a new Y-Pipe.

nice buy, nice car. i think i posted in that thread..

definetley add a VI, it will greatly improve your top end..and if you go teh 00VI route, all the way through the powerband and top end.

yeah just leave your car running for 15-20 minutes with a Y and you should pass fine..

Congrats on the ride. An engine does have to be *decent* if it goes on Ward's 10 Best list for over a decade straight ...And by decent, I mean amazing.

As long as no CEL or SES light is on you should be able to pass emission. Or atleast here in IL they do a OBD II scan test and if there is no SES or CEL it would pass. They also do the gas cap test, They take off the cap and screw it onto something and test for some kind of thing.

Thanks for all your input. I think the next thing is looking for a Y-pipe and I will se about the 00VI. The 00VI is probably a summer job.

I paid $3500. And to tell the truth it seems worth every penny. This car was and will be well taken care of.

I think they check to see how it holds the seal.

congrats, and enjoy!

You'll be ok with a y-pipe, just allow the car to be fully warmed up before taking it in for emissions.
