i wouldn't get blue painted bulbs because they may be slightly different color from eachother. At least that was the trouble i had with the ones i tried. They looked good when i first put them in, but soon faded and it looked terrible.
You might consider blue 194 5 led bulbs. They work a lot better, but with a few hot spots.
Hope that helps....Dave

i just replaced my dash w/ blue led 194's and sanded the needles and added extra leds aimed up in there. its not too hard. u can get 10 194's off ebay for cheap. instead of leaving the needles clear i markered them blue on the top. reason being if u sand the red off u cant see the clear needles in the daytime. as crazy as that sounds it looks amazing. i did this very recently so if u have questions u can talk on aim w/ me.

Hey man If you wind up gettin the LED bulbs, people say sand the leds to more readily disperce the light. I found that using a piece of clearish (opaque) scotch tape about a .5-1" square and just folding it over an led will give it more of a light "bulb" dispersement. I dont know how this will go for multiple led lights, but for singles it does the trick. Hope this helps!

Your best bet would be to get the led bulbs because they wont fade and they are gonna be brighter, i have the 5 led bulbs and they light up my gauges great and the hot spots aren't noticable.

Led's would be better than blue 194s. Output will usually diminish with blue unless they are very high quality.
