So you're saying that my "high beams" are required to be in the same housing as my low beams, even if they're activated by the same high beam "stalk pull?" They would be aimed the same as high beams... I've decided that I would be annoyed by a dual beam retro because it would never look quite perfect to me, and bixenons are a tad expensive..

Looks really clean, good job. If i was doing a retro, i'd want it to look exactly like that.

That's what I've been saying the whole time. They're like high beams. Except mounted under the bumper. They're aimed significantly higher than low beams. They're aimed slightly higher than my correctly aimed high beams. Why is this a safety hazard again... they're functionally identical to high beams, in every sense of the phrase.

Nice retro.....

What did you use to finish the back and do you have pics of before you finished it. I am almost finished with my HID retro but I do not know what to seal the back up with. I think someone already asked if that was JB weld on the back.

D2R bulbs have always been produced with a sheild on the bulb.. they were designed to be used in reflector housings. to eliminate glare, part of the bulb has a black coating to prevent light from passing through.

D2S is pretty much the same bulb minus this coating.. D2S are brighter since they are designed to be used in a projector, and the projector already has a shield.

Then in that sense, HID's are pointless period. Go with a 9007 conversion and call it day if you don't want a large improvement.

Bi-xenon projectors are in no way redundant, and I paid less than most people pay for single-xenon projectors. If you think they're redundant, you've obviously never experienced them at night.

Come to think of it, I probably paid less for the projectors than you would for single-xenon projectors and the driving lights total. The end result is also better, and looks much cleaner. I have one projector, that's it. Nothing on my bumpers. Much cleaner appearance, if you ask me.

correct, and i think its about 300 lumens or so difference in between the two.

I used jb weld to seal the back. I was quite surprised how well the color matched with the oem housing. I really don't care how ugly the back looks.

I know thats definately the case here, cops are real ****s, if they think something looks too "racey" they'll pull u over, best to be safe. cause it'll suck if ur pulled over for ur headlight units... especially after all that work u put into it

That's a very nice job you have done. I am debating over mines too, I love the E46 Single Xenon, but I am debating over a single lens setup with bi-xenons. Would your stock E46 Bezels compliment the CCFL angel eyes made for it?

Those look really nice, probably the first ones that have made me seriouslly think about going to the AE headlights. Be sure to post some cutoff pics.

I am not sure if the CCFL would fit my setup. If they are made to fit a stock E46 single xenon setup, then it should. I am not bothering with Angel eyes though...I am only a fan of them on BMWs.

yea, install pics would be nice... good to see all the projector HID ppl comin to this thread! at any rate, those look AMAZING, damn dude. i mean who cares if the back looks ghetto, just so long as everything works & it doesn't let water in, right? either way, the front of the lights looks simply incredible, and you will be in awe of the light output! enjoy 'em.

Haha. You guys need to see what my car currently looks like....layers of salt with no paint in sight. As soon as the weather gets here (end of march probably), and I get a few other mods on, pics will come (with a new thread).
