Odd problem

Tonight when I was driving, doing about 45, and I began to brake slowly for the upcoming turn, as soon as I hit the brake the car feels like it shifts into a 5th gear and drops to idle and almost stalls. What could this be? Im ready to sell my car, im really not liking it at all.

Could be some overdrive/transmission problems?

I figured it was possibly my tranny, the other day it shifted out of O/D pretty rough, like a rough jerk. But it handles 5k rpm shifts fine. Its auto by the way.

Our autos do not have a 5th gear.

Check your oil level. While you are doing this also see how it looks (color, should be redish), check how it smells (burned or not), feel the oil in between your fingertips (should feel smooth).
