Which mod yields better (if any) performance gains?
1). A hacked stock airbox with a K&N drop in
2). A venturi ring adapter with cone filter, yielding stock midpipe (Stillen type)
Personally, I've found that the more you hack the airbox, the slower and louder the car is. I can't go back to stock intake, because the downstream sensor code is thrown with stock intake post-highflow cat install. If I keep hacked intake or equivalent, it doesn't throw the code (strange).

That was a sarcastic reply more than anything else. Like asking someone if they like your maxima and getting "a 911 Turbo would be much faster" as a response. I just wanted an answer/help with the original question, which neither of you have attempted to do.

#1 would seem to be the better choice of the 2
i have to say it so here goes: u gotta understand in reality or cyberspace, everybody tries to be sweet. u might not have noticed, but the org is populated by the very stewards of hilarity itself!! : often its like but i guess its an attempt at lightening up everyones mood with underdeveloped social skills, or simply what childish thing they find amusing...like saying blue when someone asks u wut flavor you want. the point is dont get bent out of shape by dumb jokes and be glad someone took the time to answer ur question. i mean dam everybody chill.

I have try'd the hacked box, mass air adapter and k/n cone also an ingen cai which I have now and what worked the best is the stock airbox not hacked with a k/n air filter. The ingen looks great makes cool sounds I did gain top end power but loss bottom end torque hope this helps

im not trying to be a troll. i dont live under a bridge and i do have respect for people online. i apologize. what i meant was that you get what you pay for. there are no simple 100-200 dollar mods that will get you performance that wont take away from something else. if you want performance, put your money into something that will really work. dont waste time/money on little mods that will probably all add up to that one big one. again, im sorry.

My money is on the POP charger (2).

biggest gains:Id go pop charger(keep stock mid pipe), y adds 15 hp, there the 00Vi(reading about it please), ecu/adjusting A/f. Then of course N20, turbos, supercharger. Full exhaust is very nice and really works well together but course if you start boosting, then exhaust helps more and more. Most of it is reading and getting the work done, asking a lame questions will get you slap, mentally torture and you will end up at the same spot.

I'm considering adding an air scoop coming from the front air dam of my I30 to come striaght up to my injen CAI for a sort of direct air flow intake unit. also thinking about adding a fat k&n barrel filter to the bottom. I'm planning on taking out my lower signal lights and doing an air cooled braking system. questions/comments welcome

you would get more gains if u lost the cai. well now its gunna get wet if u take out one of those lights, loose the 2.25 inch exhuast and go 2.5. 2.25 is small as hell for a v6. you will also gain more power if u get rid of those heavy *** motegi rims

i have had the JWT pop charger and i switched to the hacked air box to try it out.....i liek it much better....feels smoother and feels better inthe LOW* end says the butt dyno...duno how true it is though

I've got the K&N panel filter, stock airbox and Budget stainless steel y-pipe and it works for me. I'm not into noise. I feel the engine is more responsive with the K&N filter and I don't think its placebo effect. I had it a couple of weeks before I got the y-pipe and I noticed a difference under WOT at mid to high RPMs.

they claim it adds up to 10%, so like 18hp. I definitely noticed a huge difference in power and throttle response when I installed mine, but I can't be sure how much as I've never had it on a dyno. I noticed a bigger difference from stock with the K&N than I did when I installed the y-pipe (K&N already in at this point). Hope this helps.

what about if we got one of those cone filter things to put on the end of the stock pipe where the airbox is? do they add horsepower and efficency?
what would be better, this setup, or the flat k&n filter in stock airbox.
thanxs guys

If you had a cone attatched to the stock box, then this would almost double filter area. This will provide more power and with the turbonator, fuel economy will shoot through the roof IMO.

my bad. i dont know this stuff that well. i am a newbie at this. i didnt mean y pipe i meant stock intake pipe.
does anybody know how well a short ram intake works? with this do you have to take the stock airbox and ram air scoop thingy out? thanx
